7 Best Arabic Writing Apps for Android

Written by Sera Serinda A

During various Islamic religious celebrations, it is common for Muslims to share greetings or Quranic verses with relatives and friends via mobile phones. These messages become even more meaningful when written in Arabic.

Unfortunately, many smartphones do not come with built-in support for typing in Arabic. The good news is that you can now install Arabic writing applications on your Android device.

So, which apps can help you write in Arabic? Carisinyal has compiled a list of recommended applications just for you!

1. iFont

With iFont, you can explore a wide range of fonts in various styles, including fonts from different countries such as Arabic fonts. In the Arabic font section, iFont also offers some Latin fonts, although the selection is limited. This feature is especially helpful for users who understand Arabic but are not yet fluent in reading it.

Additionally, iFont allows you to preview each font in different sizes. Within the same menu, you can also compare the selected font with the one currently in use, making it easier to find the perfect match.

Once you find a font you like, simply download it and tap the “Set” menu. Your Android device's display will then instantly update to the new font style, including Arabic fonts if selected.

However, despite its useful features, iFont’s interface design could be improved. The menu layout and features often overlap with advertisement banners, which can sometimes disrupt the user experience.

What I like about iFont:

  • A wide variety of fonts available, including fonts in multiple languages such as Arabic.
  • Includes several Latin-Arabic fonts.
  • Features a comparison tool to see selected fonts side-by-side with the current one in use.
  • Fonts can be used freely without limitations.

Things to note about iFont:

  • The user interface is not very user-friendly due to the presence of intrusive banner ads.

I’m also quite impressed with the app’s UI design; the interface looks polished and professional.
