10 Best Android Games in 2025

Written by Sera Serinda A

Google Play is more than just a store for apps and games on Android devices. Formerly known as Android Market, it has evolved into a platform where developers showcase their creativity and innovation.

In this article, we'll review some of the best games currently available on the Play Store. Want to know which games made the list? Let’s dive in:

1. Subway Surfers

Subway Surfers is the original endless runner and has been popular for over a decade. Its fame hasn’t faded, making it one of the most downloaded games ever.

You play as a teenager trying to escape from the police and their dogs after being caught graffitiing. While running, you must dodge obstacles like speeding metro trains, warning signs, and barriers.

Along the way, you can collect coins and power-ups to help you run faster and make the game more exciting. The developers frequently update the game with new locations, such as Tokyo, Dubai, and even outer space like Mars. Each new map offers unique themes, challenges, and character skins.

If you’re lucky and skillful, you might also find rare Easter eggs like colorful jetpacks or rainbow skateboards that appear under special conditions.

What I like about Subway Surfers:

  • Simple, easy-to-learn gameplay
  • Increasingly challenging levels with missions
  • Power-ups that add excitement
  • Background sounds that change with seasons and holidays
  • A variety of characters and skateboards to collect
  • Regular updates keep the game fresh

One thing to note:

  • The gameplay can feel repetitive after a while for some players

2. Candy Crush Saga

Although it has many spin-offs, Candy Crush Saga remains the most iconic. This match-3 puzzle game attracts players with its straightforward gameplay and charming animations.

The fun comes from matching candy blocks, breaking them with satisfying sound effects and visuals. The game offers tens of thousands of levels, each with unique candy patterns and special candies that create different effects.

One more thing, Candy Crush Saga can be played offline! So, if you have no internet connection, it’s a great way to pass the time.

One drawback is the limited number of lives. You start with five lives, and after losing them all, you must wait about 30 minutes to get them back.

What I like about Candy Crush Saga:

  • Easy puzzle mechanics with rewarding animations and sounds
  • Thousands of levels with increasing difficulty
  • Boosters available to help clear difficult stages

One thing to note:

  • Only five lives available at a time, with a cooldown to regain them

3. Free Fire MAX

Free Fire MAX_

Free Fire became popular because it runs well on all kinds of devices, even low-end phones. But if you want better graphics, you should try Free Fire MAX.

This battle royale game drops dozens of players on an island where the goal is to be the last one alive. You eliminate others using various weapons, from snipers and SMGs to the powerful Groza, known for its high damage and accuracy.

You won’t get the best weapons right away. You need to upgrade basic guns step by step to make them stronger. The safe zone shrinks over time, pushing players closer together and forcing battles.

From my experience, Free Fire MAX plays the same as the original, but it has some improvements. These include a more interactive lobby with camera rotation, detailed map designs, and a special custom map called Craftland, where you can create your own playground.

The upgraded graphics and features mean the MAX version needs a higher-spec device. Its game size is over 900 MB because of premium assets.

What I like about Free Fire MAX:

  • Sharper, Ultra HD graphics compared to the original
  • More detailed maps and a custom map mode
  • Interactive lobby with camera rotation for a fresh feel
  • More immersive sound effects
  • You can log in with your existing Free Fire account

One thing to consider:

  • The file size is large and may not run well on phones with low-end chips

4. Roblox

Roblox is not exactly a game by itself. It is more like a metaverse where players can create their own game worlds and socialize with others. There are millions of games inside Roblox, and most are made by regular players. You can even make your own game.

To start, you need to create an account. It is simple. Just enter your birthdate, choose a username, and set a password. In less than a minute, your account is ready.

I tried one game called Grow a Garden. In this game, you plant different crops like carrots, strawberries, and corn, as well as bigger plants like coconuts and cacti. You can sell the fruits you harvest to buy better seeds and earn more money.

Besides simulator games, Roblox also offers survival, adventure, and FPS games. You can customize your avatar’s hair, clothes, and accessories. This avatar stays the same across all games.

Plus, you can chat and interact with other players. With so many games to choose from, you will never get bored.

What I like about Roblox:

  • There are many types of games to play
  • It is a good place to socialize with other players
  • It does not require a high-spec device
  • You can create your own games and even earn money if they become popular

Things to note:

  • Many games feel repetitive and some are low quality
  • The graphics are not very impressive

5. Clash of Clans

Clash of Clans_

In this Supercell game, you play as a Chief with the job of building a base, training troops, and defending your clan from enemies. Your main goal is to protect your clan from attacks.

Clash of Clans combines base-building strategy with player-versus-player battles. You build a village with the Town Hall (TH) at the center. The higher your TH level, the more troops and features you unlock.

You can train troops like Barbarians, Archers, and Dragons to defend your base. Do not forget to add defenses such as cannons and archer towers to keep enemies away.

There is also a Multiplayer Battle mode where you face random opponents. If you win, you can loot their Gold, Elixir, and Dark Elixir to improve your village.

My advice is to focus on upgrading your troops first to make your attacks stronger. You can look for ‘dead bases’ which have lots of resources but weak defenses to loot more easily.

Building a strong village takes time, so progress in Clash of Clans is quite slow. However, if you like strategy, war, and combining different units, this game is a great choice.

What I like about Clash of Clans:

  • It combines base-building and PvP well
  • It has a detailed tutorial to help new players
  • Multiplayer battles offer a variety of opponents

One thing to note:

  • Progress can be slow

6. Sniper 3D

Sniper 3D_

I am not a big fan of complex FPS games like Free Fire or PUBG. I prefer simpler ones like Sniper 3D. The number of downloads shows that many players enjoy this kind of game too.

As the name says, you play as a sniper who shoots targets. Besides completing missions, you can upgrade your gear to improve your speed and accuracy.

Sniper 3D has many game modes. You can play single missions across 21 cities, compete with other players in multiplayer arenas, team up with friends in war mode, or fight zombies. This variety keeps the game interesting.

What I like about Sniper 3D:

  • The gameplay is simple and easy to learn
  • There are many game modes to enjoy
  • There are events where you can get cool weapons and gear for free
  • Some game modes can be played offline

One thing to note:

  • Some players feel the game has a “pay-to-win” aspect

7. Pokémon GO

Pokémon GO_

Pokémon GO brought a fresh mix of fitness, exploration, and the classic Pokémon RPG feel. When it launched in 2016, it was so popular that over 50 million players joined right away.

The result? Niantic had to shut down the servers for a few days because they couldn’t handle the load. It’s funny, but it shows just how big Pokémon GO was.

This game changed the idea that playing games means sitting still and staring at a screen. In fact, Pokémon GO only works well if you get moving.

Using augmented reality (AR), this open-world game lets you catch Pokémon in real life. You’ll see Pokémon on your map and use your phone’s camera to find them. When a Pokémon appears, you throw a Poké Ball to catch it.

But the game is more than just collecting Pokémon. You also need to train them to get stronger. Later, you can join raid battles with other players and win prizes.

What I like is that you can play without spending any money. Power-ups come in the form of Candy, which you get by walking with your Pokémon or catching the same one several times. These candies help increase your Pokémon’s strength.

What I like about Pokémon GO:

  • It combines fitness, exploration, and the classic Pokémon style
  • You don’t just catch Pokémon, you also battle with them
  • The game is free to play

One thing to note:

  • Because it uses your camera and GPS, it drains your battery fast

8. PUBG MOBILE

PUBG MOBILE_

PUBG is a hardcore Battle Royale game with a huge worldwide fan base. Because the original PC version was a hit, Tencent Games made a mobile version that’s also very popular. With cool graphics and intense gameplay, PUBG is great if you like high-risk, high-reward games.

The gameplay is similar to Free Fire. You have to be the last player standing on an island, fighting others. Weapons vary from knives, snipers, and shotguns to bombs.

What makes PUBG different from Free Fire is its more complex shooting mechanics, better graphics, and much bigger maps. A match can have up to 100 players, so games last longer than just 10 minutes.

The first time I played Classic mode with little experience, it took me over half an hour to win “Winner Winner Chicken Dinner.” I missed many shots, forgot to manage my gear, and wasn’t used to the controls.

It takes skill to shoot accurately and manage health with first aid kits or med kits. That’s what makes the game exciting. The longer you play, the tougher it gets, especially when the map shrinks and battles get intense. No wonder PUBG is one of the most popular games worldwide.

What I like about PUBG Mobile:

  • Very intense Battle Royale gameplay
  • Great graphics and large, detailed maps
  • Helps improve your aiming skills
  • Has many different game modes

Things to note:

  • The recoil makes shooting harder than in Free Fire
  • The game moves slowly at first because the map is so big

9. Fruit Ninja

Fruit Ninja_

Who would have thought that a game that started as a simple prototype because the developer was impressed by an ad showing a knife slicing fruit smoothly would become one of the most downloaded and legendary games?

Because of its popularity, Fruit Ninja has expanded to Xbox Kinect, PC, VR (Oculus Rift), and even arcade machines. But it was first released only on iOS and Android.

In Fruit Ninja, you play as a virtual blade master slicing different types of fruit. There are several game modes to enjoy. In Classic Mode, you slice fruit but must avoid bombs mixed in with the fruit. Zen Mode lets you slice fruit freely without worrying about bombs.

There is also Arcade Mode, where you avoid bombs while slicing special fruits that can double your score. Finally, Multiplayer Mode lets you compete against your friends.

Though the game is simple to play, slicing fruit like a ninja feels very satisfying. Plus, when you reach higher levels, you unlock new swords that are unique and slice better.

What I like about Fruit Ninja:

  • Simple and fun gameplay
  • Different modes keep the game fresh
  • Good graphics and animations that make the game exciting

One thing to note:

  • Sometimes the difficulty does not increase much with higher levels

10. Magic Tiles 3

Magic Tiles 3_

Magic Tiles 3 is a popular rhythm game and one of the most downloaded worldwide. With easy gameplay and a collection of hit songs that are always updated, it offers a relaxing way to play piano while training your finger speed.

The gameplay is simple. Tiles fall from the top of the screen like piano notes, and you tap them when they reach the bottom line to score points. The more precise your timing, the higher your score and combo.

You will find hundreds of songs from many genres, including pop, classical, viral TikTok hits, and movie soundtracks. You can play in Quick Match mode with random players or create a Custom Match to play with friends.

Magic Tiles 3 is one of my favorite rhythm games because it is responsive and the song list is always up to date, so I rarely get bored.

After finishing a song level, the game continues with the same song at a higher difficulty. Tiles fall faster, sharpening your reflexes. It is exciting!

Hal yang saya sukai dari Magic Tiles 3:

  • Responsive and enjoyable rhythm gameplay
  • Simple and easy to learn
  • Large and regularly updated song collection

One thing to note:

  • Not all songs are free to play

That is our brief review of some of the best and most downloaded games. Not every game here will be everyone’s favorite, but each one appeals to fans of its style.
