7 Chipsets Similar to Snapdragon 7 Gen 4

Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 is a high mid-range SoC made with a 4 nm process. It was launched in May 2025 and acts as the follow-up to Snapdragon 7 Gen 3. The chip has an 8-core Kryo CPU with one main core running up to 2.8 GHz, four performance cores up to 2.4 GHz, and three efficiency cores up to 1.8 GHz.

For graphics, it uses the powerful Adreno 722 GPU. It also includes several Snapdragon Elite Gaming features like Adaptive Performance Engine 4.0, Game Super Resolution, and Game Quick Touch.

Overall, this chipset brings a big boost in performance. The CPU is 27% faster, the GPU 30% faster, and the AI performance goes up by 65% compared to the previous version.

But Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 is not alone in the market. There are several chipsets in the same class. In this article, we will show you seven chipsets that have similar performance to Snapdragon 7 Gen 4.

1. MediaTek Dimensity 8400

Dimensity 8400 is a 5G chipset in the upper mid-range category. It was announced at the end of 2024 and is made using TSMC’s 4 nm process, so it's quite power-efficient.

This chip has a special CPU design that uses only high-performance cores. There are no small cores. It has eight Cortex-A725 cores; one runs up to 3.25 GHz, three at 3.0 GHz, and four others at 2.1 GHz. Even though all the cores are high-performance, the four running at 2.1 GHz use less power, which helps improve battery life.

The GPU inside is the Arm Immortalis-G720 MC7. This is a 7-core GPU that supports modern features like hardware-based ray tracing. It is said to be 24% faster than the Mali-G615 from the previous generation. With MediaTek’s new HyperEngine technology, the chip can handle heavy games smoothly.

The Dimensity 8400 also supports powerful AI features through its MediaTek NPU 880, can work with high-resolution cameras, and lets users record videos in 4K at 60fps with HDR. It supports displays up to WQHD+ resolution with a refresh rate of 144Hz for smooth visuals.

2. MediaTek Dimensity 8350

Dimensity 8350 is a small upgrade from the Dimensity 8300 and was announced in mid-2024. Most of its specs are almost the same as the 8300. It has an 8-core CPU made up of one Cortex-A715 core at 3.35 GHz, three Cortex-A715 cores at 3.2 GHz, and four Cortex-A510 efficiency cores at 2.2 GHz.

The main difference lies in software. The 8350 adds MediaTek StarSpeed, a feature that brings better network performance. In terms of basic performance, both 8350 and 8300 are very similar, although the 8350 may feel a bit more optimized.

For graphics, the Dimensity 8350 uses an ARM Mali-G615 MC6 GPU with six cores. It supports Vulkan 1.3 and works well with displays up to WQHD+ at 120Hz or FHD+ at 180Hz.

It also comes with the Imagiq 980 ISP, which supports cameras up to 200 MP and can record 4K videos at 60fps. This image signal processor also helps improve photo quality at night through HDR and AI noise reduction.

3. Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3

Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 is a chipset released at the end of 2023. It replaced the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 and Snapdragon 7s Gen 2. This chip is made using TSMC’s 4 nm process and is designed for premium mid-range phones. It offers a good mix of performance and power efficiency.

The CPU has eight cores with a 1+3+4 setup. It includes one Cortex-A715 core running at 2.63 GHz, three Cortex-A715 cores at 2.4 GHz, and four Cortex-A510 cores at 1.8 GHz. Unlike the “Plus” version, this chip does not have a Cortex-X core, but it still delivers strong performance.

For graphics, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 uses the Adreno 720 GPU. This GPU supports modern APIs like Vulkan 1.3 and OpenGL ES 3.2. The chipset also includes Snapdragon Elite Gaming features, so games can run smoothly with stable frame rates.

For photography, the chip comes with Qualcomm’s Spectra ISP. It supports cameras up to 200 MP and can record videos in 4K at 30 fps. One of its cool features is the ability to take 30 pictures in a row and combine them into one clear night photo with less noise.

Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 is a better version of the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3. It was launched in March 2024 and also uses TSMC’s 4 nm process. This chipset has a tri-cluster CPU setup with one powerful Cortex-X4 core at 2.8 GHz, four Cortex-A720 cores at 2.6 GHz, and three Cortex-A520 cores at 1.9 GHz.

The graphics part is handled by the Adreno 732 GPU, which can go up to 950 MHz. It supports Snapdragon Elite Gaming features like Vulkan 1.1, Game Super Resolution, and Adaptive Performance. These features help games look better and run more smoothly.

The Spectra ISP on this chip supports up to 200 MP camera resolution and 4K video at 60 fps. It also has an improved night mode using multiple frames for better low-light photos.

In terms of connectivity, the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 is equipped with the Snapdragon X63 5G modem. It supports download speeds up to 4.2 Gbps. It also includes Wi-Fi 7 with FastConnect 6900, Bluetooth 5.4, and Quick Charge 5.

Dimensity 8300 came before the Dimensity 8350 and was launched at the end of 2023. It brought the new ARM v9 architecture to the mid-range class. The CPU has eight cores, with the same setup as the 8350, one Cortex-A715 core at 3.35 GHz, three Cortex-A715 cores at 3.2 GHz, and four Cortex-A510 cores at 2.2 GHz.

At the time of release, many people called this chipset a “flagship killer” because its CPU performance was close to top-tier chipsets from 2021. It is built using TSMC’s 4 nm process, so it offers good power efficiency and heat control.

For graphics, the Dimensity 8300 uses the Mali-G615 MC6 GPU, based on the Valhall architecture. This GPU can handle heavy games well, even at high settings in Full HD. MediaTek also added HyperEngine technology to improve gaming, including better frame rate stability and lower power use during long gaming sessions.

Other strong points include the Imagiq 980 ISP, which supports cameras up to 320 MP and 4K video at 60 fps. For connectivity, the chipset supports sub-6GHz 5G with download speeds up to around 5.17 Gbps. It also has 3CC carrier aggregation for better signal coverage.

6. Samsung Exynos 1580

Exynos 1580 is a mid-range chipset from Samsung that was announced in October 2024. It is made using Samsung’s 3rd generation 4 nm EUV process (4LPP) and is mainly used in Galaxy A series phones.

Its CPU uses a tri-cluster design. It has one Cortex-A720 core at 2.9 GHz, three Cortex-A720 cores at 2.6 GHz, and four Cortex-A520 cores at 1.95 GHz. This shows that Samsung has moved to the latest ARM cores, which are much newer than the ones used in the older Exynos 1480.

This 1+3+4 setup gives a big jump in performance. Benchmark scores show that it is almost as fast as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, a flagship chip from 2022. This makes the Exynos 1580 a major step forward for Samsung’s mid-range processors, which often fell behind the competition.

One of the standout features is the Samsung Xclipse 540 GPU. It is based on AMD’s RDNA 3 architecture and has four Compute Units. This GPU is 37% faster than the Xclipse 530 used in the previous model and also uses 20% less power.

Samsung has kept important features for photography and AI. It supports cameras up to 200 MP with zero shutter lag, 4K video at 60 fps, and has a 14.7 TOPS NPU for AI tasks. This leads to better low-light photos, with clearer details and less noise because of improvements in both the ISP and AI noise reduction.

7. Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 4

Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 was released in August 2025 as a cheaper and more power-efficient option in the Snapdragon 7 series. It is commonly used in popular mid-range phones like the Redmi Note series. This chipset is also built using TSMC’s 4 nm process, but its specs are a bit lower than the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4.

The CPU still has the same 1+3+4 setup as the previous version. It includes one Cortex-A720 core running at 2.7 GHz, three Cortex-A720 cores at 2.4 GHz, and four Cortex-A520 cores at 1.8 GHz. Compared to the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3, the prime core is now 200 MHz faster, giving about 7% better performance.

Unlike the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, which has five A720 performance cores, the “s” version only has four. Because of this, multi-core performance is slightly lower, but the power usage is more efficient.

For graphics, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 comes with an Adreno GPU. It supports Snapdragon Elite Gaming and features like Adaptive Performance Engine 3.0 and Game Super Resolution. These help improve game visuals without using too much power.

This chipset may not be the fastest in its class, but it can still handle casual to moderately heavy games at Full HD resolution.
