How to Perform a Hard Reset via Settings

The easiest way to hard reset your Tecno phone is through the Settings menu—this can be done while the phone is still working and can be turned on. Here's how to do it:

1. Back Up Your Data

Before starting the reset, make sure you back up all important data. This is crucial because the reset will erase everything—your apps, photos, files, and settings. If you have a backup, you can restore your data afterward.

Also, make sure your phone has enough battery—ideally fully charged, but at least 30%—as the process may take a few minutes.

2. Open the Reset Menu

Once everything is ready, go to your phone’s Settings. On the main settings screen, scroll down and tap System, then choose Reset Phone.

Since a hard reset will erase all your data and restore the phone to its original state, tap Erase all data to continue.

3. Confirm the Reset

Because this action is permanent, your phone will show several warnings.

After selecting Erase all data, you'll see a message reminding you that this will delete everything—your Google account, apps, settings, photos, and more.

If you’re sure, tap the blue Erase all data button at the bottom. One final confirmation will appear. Once you confirm, the reset process will start. Just wait until the phone finishes resetting and restarts. After that, you can set it up again as if it were new.

How to Perform a Hard Reset via Recovery Mode

Another way to do a hard reset on your Tecno phone is through Recovery Mode. Just like the reset via Settings, this method will erase all data on your device.

This option is usually used when you can’t access your phone—such as when it's stuck or you’ve forgotten your password. Here’s how to do it:

1. Enter Android Recovery Mode

Start by turning off your Tecno phone. Then, press and hold the Volume Up and Power buttons at the same time. When the TECNO logo appears, release the Power button but keep holding the Volume Up button.

Soon, you’ll see an image of a broken Android robot. At this point, release the Volume Up button. Then, press the Volume Up and Power buttons again at the same time to enter the Recovery Mode menu.

2. Perform a Factory Reset

In Recovery Mode, the touchscreen won’t work. You’ll need to use the Volume buttons to move through the menu (Volume Up to go up, Volume Down to go down) and the Power button to select an option.

Scroll to Wipe data/factory reset, then press the Power button to select it. You’ll see a warning message saying “THIS CANNOT BE UNDONE”—this means the reset is permanent and will erase all data on your phone.

If you’re sure, select Factory data reset. Wait a few moments until you see “Data wipe complete” at the bottom of the screen. This means the reset has been successfully completed.

3. Reboot the Phone

Once the reset is done, choose Reboot system now to restart your phone. After restarting, your Tecno phone will be back to its original factory settings. You can then set it up like new.
