How to Hide Navigation Buttons on Samsung Phones

Written by Jihan Fauziah

Back in the day, phones were all about buttons. Remember when Blackberry ruled with its QWERTY keyboard? But as smartphones took over, many brands shifted to touchscreen-only designs.

Samsung was one of the pioneers in this move, embracing touchscreen technology even before the famous Galaxy series hit the market. And yes, these phones work perfectly fine without any physical buttons.

The navigation bar, or the navigation buttons, make using your phone a breeze. But there might be times when you'd prefer a cleaner look without these buttons on display.

Luckily, Samsung lets you tweak your navigation settings, including the option to hide these buttons. Interested in finding out how? Keep reading to see how it's done.

How to Hide Navigation Buttons

Removing or hiding the navigation buttons on your Samsung phone is simple and doesn't require any extra apps. Just follow these easy steps:

  1. Open the Settings menu on your Samsung phone.
  2. Tap on Display.
  3. Scroll down until you see Navigation bar.

If you're using a phone case, head to More Options in the same menu to tweak the gesture sensitivity. This makes sure your swipes are just as effective and comfortable to use.

How to Use the Hidden Navigation Button

Once you’ve followed the steps above, the navigation buttons on your phone screen will be hidden. Now, you can control your phone using gestures or by using the assistant button.

1. Using Gestures

The first way to operate the hidden navigation buttons is through gestures. All you need to do is swipe from the bottom or sides of the screen. Here’s how it works:

The Assistant Menu is a very useful feature for Samsung users. It offers many functions, including replacing the navigation buttons.

There's no harm in activating the Assistant Menu after removing the navigation buttons. It helps you keep using your phone easily, especially if you want to keep the navigation buttons hidden to maximize screen space.
