How To Check RAM Capacity On Samsung Phones

Written by Ganjar Maulana

RAM (Random Access Memory) is one of the essential components in a smartphone. RAM functions as a temporary storage space for data currently being used by the system and applications.

The role of RAM is closely related to your phone’s performance. Therefore, knowing your phone’s RAM capacity can help you understand its performance and determine its multitasking limits.

For those of you with a Samsung phone, there are two easy ways to check the RAM capacity on devices from this South Korean manufacturer. In this article, we’ll discuss these two methods in detail.

1. Through Device Care

The easiest way to check the RAM capacity on your Samsung phone is through the Device Care feature. You don't need any additional apps to access it. Here are the steps:

  1. Open the Settings menu on your Samsung phone.
  2. Scroll down and select Device Care.
  3. Tap on the Memory option.

On the Memory page, you'll see information about the total RAM capacity, as well as the current amount of RAM being used. You'll also find details about the available RAM and the RAM locked by the system.

In addition to checking your RAM, you can also clean it by closing apps running in the background. This will free up RAM on your phone, helping it perform smoother during multitasking.

2. Through Developer Options

You can also check the RAM capacity through the Developer Options page. This mode gives you access to additional features, including more detailed memory information.

By default, Developer Options is not visible in the settings, so you'll need to enable it first. Here’s how to do that:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Scroll down and select About Phone.
  3. Tap on Software Information.
  4. Press the Build Number seven times until a notification confirms that Developer Options is now enabled.

Once Developer Options is activated, you'll see a new menu in the settings. To view the RAM information, follow the steps below:

  1. Open the Settings menu again.
  2. Select the new option called Developer Options.
  3. Tap on Memory.

On the Memory page, you can see details about your total RAM capacity, the amount of RAM currently in use, and the available RAM. You’ll also find information about the average RAM usage over a certain period.

What’s interesting is that this page provides a breakdown of RAM usage by individual apps. This allows you to identify which apps are using a lot of RAM, which could be causing your phone to slow down.

These are two easy ways to check the RAM capacity on a Samsung phone. By knowing how much RAM you have, you can better manage the apps you have installed, especially memory-heavy ones like games or video editing apps.

If you often notice your phone is slow or freezes, it might be time to increase your RAM capacity using the RAM Plus feature.
