How to Disable Avast Antivirus Temporarily
It's no secret that the Windows operating system is quite vulnerable to viruses. Because of this, antivirus software has long been popular among Windows users. However, with the introduction of Windows Defender, the system's built-in security has significantly improved.
The presence of Windows Defender has led to a decline in the popularity of third-party antivirus applications, especially since many of them come with expensive license fees or subscription-based pricing.
That said, there are still many excellent antivirus programs that offer free licenses, one of the most popular being Avast. Avast has been widely used for years, and in fact, one of our team members at Carisinyal has relied on it since 2010.
Avast’s strong reputation comes from its effectiveness in detecting and eliminating threats. It is also highly sensitive to suspicious files or programs. Because of this, some Windows users who install Avast often find themselves frustrated, particularly when trying to open cracked software.
Avast frequently detects cracks as threats and immediately deletes them, even if the file itself isn’t necessarily dangerous (though cracks do pose a security risk).
So, if you want to use a cracked file without Avast deleting it, the only option is to uninstall Avast. But what if you don’t want to uninstall Avast? No worries—you can simply disable it temporarily instead. Yes, it’s possible! Here’s how you can temporarily turn off Avast:
1. Right Click on the Avast Icon

The first step is to go to the right corner of Windows. After that, select the up arrow and the Avast icon will appear. On the Avast icon, right-click your mouse and select the Avast shields control option.
2. Disable Avast

After selecting Avast Shields Control, you will see four options to disable Avast: disable for 10 minutes, disable for 1 hour, disable until computer is restarted, and disable permanently.
If you need to turn off Avast for a longer period of time, you can choose the disable for 1 hour option, which means that Avast will turn off within 1 hour or 60 minutes.
If you need to turn off Avast for a longer period of time, you can select the disable until computer is restarted option, which means that Avast will turn off until your computer shuts down. So, when your computer restarts, Avast will be active again.
If you want to turn off Avast permanently, you can choose disable permanently option. But instead of choosing this option, it's better to just uninstall the Avast application.
That wraps up our explanation of Avast and the steps to temporarily disable it. Hopefully, this guide helps those of you looking for a way to turn off Avast without permanently removing it!
