How to Remove Ads on Tecno Phones

Tecno is one of the most popular smartphone brands that offers a wide range of models at competitive prices, making it an attractive choice for many. However, like many affordable phones, Tecno devices come with certain limitations, particularly in terms of the interface they use.

Tecno phones run on the HiOS interface, which is regularly updated. Unfortunately, the issue of ads within HiOS remains unresolved. As a Tecno user myself, I’ll be sharing some tips on how to manage and deal with these ads that often pop up on the device.

The methods I’ll discuss have been personally tested on my Tecno Spark 30 Pro, but don’t worry, these steps can also be applied to other Tecno phones, as the process is quite similar across models.

1. Using Private DNS

One of the most effective methods I often use is Private DNS. This feature isn’t exclusive to Tecno phones; it’s actually one of the most recommended ways to block ads on Android devices. If you’d like to try it out, here’s how to set it up:

1. First, open the Settings app on your Tecno phone.
2. Next, select the Hotspot & Connections menu.
3. On this page, you will find the Private DNS option, tap on it.

To block the ads that often appear on your Tecno device, choose Private DNS provider hostname and enter dns.adguard.com, as shown in the image. Once done, press the Save button to apply the changes.

Wait for a moment as the DNS settings are activated. Afterward, you should no longer see those pesky ads on your Tecno phone.

These ads typically pop up when using bloatware apps or pre-installed apps from Tecno, but third-party apps may display them as well. By using this Private DNS feature, you can block many of these ads and enjoy a more comfortable app experience.

2. Through Google Chrome App

The second method to block ads is through the Google Chrome app. However, please note that this will only affect the ads that appear within Google Chrome. If you're curious, here are the steps to follow:

1. First, open the Google Chrome app and log in (if you haven't already).
2. Next, tap the three dots in the top-right corner of the screen.
3. From the menu, select Settings to enter the Google Chrome settings page.
4. Then, choose the Site Settings menu to continue.

On this page, there are two menu options you can use to block ads. First, select the Pop-ups and redirects menu. Make sure the toggle is turned off (grayed out). This will block pop-ups and redirects from appearing on certain websites. Next, select the Intrusive ads menu. Again, ensure that the toggle is off (grayed out).

By doing this, ads that appear on websites you visit will be blocked, improving your browsing experience. These types of ads are often considered quite annoying when you're searching for specific information online.

3. Enabling Airplane Mode

In addition to the methods mentioned earlier, another simple way to block ads on your Tecno phone is by enabling Airplane Mode. This method is quite easy, as you only need to activate Airplane Mode from the status bar.

When Airplane Mode is turned on, your Tecno phone will be free from ads while using apps, since both data networks and Wi-Fi are disabled. However, there's one important thing to note when using this method:

If Airplane Mode is enabled, the apps you open must be offline or not require an internet connection. Ads typically appear when the phone is connected to the internet, so without a connection, ads won’t be displayed.

These are some effective ways to eliminate ads on your Tecno phone. The best part is that none of these methods require third-party apps to be downloaded. Also, these techniques have been tested and proven to successfully remove those annoying ads. I hope this article helps!
