How to Lock Apps on Tecno Phones

As an active smartphone user, it's common to store important notes or data on your phone, such as work meeting notes, personal information, or confidential conversations.

These items are often stored in apps like note-taking apps, Google Drive, or messaging apps. Since this data is private, we don’t want anyone else to have access to these apps.

Fortunately, many smartphones today come with strong security features, and Tecno is no exception. Tecno phones include an App Lock feature that allows you to lock apps, ensuring that only you can access them.

If you're a Tecno user and aren’t sure how to use this feature, don’t worry! In this article, I, from the Carisinyal team, will walk you through the steps to lock apps on your Tecno phone. Let’s dive in!

1. Open App Lock Menu

Locking apps on your Tecno phone is quite simple using the App Lock feature. There are two ways to access it: through the Settings app or the Phone Master app. Below are the steps to access it via Settings:

  1. Open the Settings app on your Tecno phone.
  2. Scroll down and select the Password & Security menu.
  3. Here, you’ll find the App Lock option. Tap on it to access the feature.

In addition to the Settings app, you can also access the App Lock feature through the Phone Master app:

  1. Open the Phone Master app on your Tecno phone.
  2. Select the Privacy Protection menu.
  3. Here, you'll find the App Lock option, which will take you to the same page as in the Settings app.

If it's your first time using this feature, you'll be prompted to create a password in the form of a pattern.

2. Select the Apps You Want to Lock

On the App Lock page, you can easily lock any app you want to secure. Simply toggle the switch next to the app name until it turns blue or becomes active.

To access more settings, tap the bolt icon in the top right corner. This will bring up options like Enable App Lock to activates the App Lock feature, and Make Pattern Visible to makes the drawn pattern visible when you unlock apps.

In the next menu, you can also change the type of password used to unlock the apps. To do so, select the Change Password Type option. Here, you can select the type of Pattern Password (a pattern shape), NumericPassword (numbers only), and Alphanumeric Password (a combination of numbers and letters).

3. Change Unlock Method

Locking apps is an effective way to secure them, but some people may find it a bit time-consuming. Especially when the password is a pattern or alphanumeric, which requires drawing or entering multiple characters.

To make things easier, you can switch to using the fingerprint sensor or face unlock instead of a pattern or password. This way, you won't have to bother drawing patterns or typing letters and numbers. Here's how to set it up:

  • Fingerprints

Once successful, the fingerprint sensor can be used to unlock the apps you've secured. You can try it out right away!

  • Face Unlock
