3 Differences Between MediaTek Helio G99 and Helio G100
MediaTek Helio G99 and Helio G100 are mid-range 4G chipsets made for affordable gaming phones. Both chipsets share many similarities, such as their 6nm octa-core CPU design and the Mali-G57 MC2 GPU.
This makes sense because the Helio G100 is the successor of the Helio G99. Still, it is not just a rebrand. The Helio G100 comes with several upgrades that make it slightly better. If you want to know how these two chipsets differ, here is a simple comparison.
1. Release Year

The Helio G99 was released first in May 2022. Its newer version, the Helio G100, was introduced two years later in August 2024.
This two-year gap shows that the Helio G100 is a newer generation with some updated features, which you can see below.
2. Maximum Camera Resolution

One big change is in camera support. The Helio G99 can handle a main camera of up to 108 MP. The Helio G100 improves on this with support for up to 200 MP.
This means phones using the Helio G100 can have cameras with much higher resolution. For dual-camera setups, both chipsets support up to 16 MP + 16 MP.
3. Elevator Mode Feature

Elevator Mode is a new feature found on the Helio G100 but not on the Helio G99. It helps improve 4G network connection, especially after a short loss of signal.
With this feature, the Helio G100 can reconnect to the network faster after leaving a place with no signal, such as when you come out of an elevator or tunnel.
Those are some of the main differences between the Helio G99 and the Helio G100. Overall, the Helio G100 is a small update to the Helio G99. The biggest changes are its higher camera support (from 108 MP to 200 MP) and the addition of Elevator Mode for smoother connectivity.
Other than that, both chipsets are almost the same. They share a 6nm design, support for 120Hz Full HD+ screens, a 4G LTE Cat-13 modem, and Bluetooth 5.2.
This update lets smartphone makers use higher-quality cameras and enjoy better network performance while keeping the same power efficiency and speed as the Helio G99.
