The Pros and Cons of Motorola Moto G06 Power
Motorola is starting to expand its presence in the smartphone market. They have launched several products such as the Moto G45 5G and Motorola Edge 60 Pro. They also produce tablets with good specifications and reasonable prices.
Not wanting to be left behind, Motorola has begun targeting the entry-level segment with a phone called the Moto G06 Power. The main selling point of this phone is its long battery life. However, the Moto G06 Power also has other great things to offer.
What are the strengths of this phone? Let’s take a look at the pros and cons of the Moto G06 Power below.
Pros of Motorola Moto G06 Power
For a phone priced at around US$85, Moto G06 Power has several interesting key points. Here are some of them.
1. 7000 mAh battery that lasts up to 3 days

The main pros of the Moto G06 Power is its massive 7000 mAh battery. This capacity is not only large but also the biggest in its price range, making it stand out in the entry-level market.
Motorola claims that the battery can last for almost three days or around 65 hours of use on a single charge. Although this figure is based on ideal conditions, it still means users won’t need to charge often or depend on a power bank.
I find this impressive because Motorola manages to offer something rarely seen in this price range. As of October 2025, I haven’t found another phone with a 7000 mAh battery in the aforementioned price range. The closest option is the POCO M7.
Motorola also claims that the battery in this phone is long-lasting. They state that the battery cells will keep more than 80% of their original capacity even after 1000 charging cycles.
This claim shows that the phone is not only built to last through the day but also designed for long-term use. This is a good thing since buyers in this price range are usually very price-conscious and need a phone that lasts for years.
2. Premium Design with Vegan Leather

In the US$50-85 price range, many phones try to stand out with shiny colors even though they are made of plastic. I’ve seen many designs like this, especially ones that copy camera bump styles from expensive phones without having their own identity.
The Moto G06 Power looks different. While many entry-level phones still use plain plastic, the Moto G06 Power comes with vegan leather, technically called silicone polymer. It gives a soft and comfortable texture when held.
The color options of the Moto G06 Power are also unique. Instead of names like Sparkling Blue or Space Green, this phone comes in Tapestry, Laurel Oak, and Tendril. These colors make it look more elegant.
The Moto G06 Power has an IP64 certification, meaning it is protected from dust and water splashes from any direction. The screen is also covered with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for scratch resistance. This feature is quite common in its class but still worth mentioning.
The design still uses plastic materials, especially on the back area that touches the hand most often. Even so, the finish makes it look and feel more premium.
Because of the materials and large battery, the phone weighs 220 grams. It is one of the heaviest non-rugged phones available, a trade-off for its solid build and design.
3. Super Large Screen with 120Hz Refresh Rate

One of the highlights of the Moto G06 Power is its large 6.88-inch display. Watching YouTube, streaming movies, or reading articles feels enjoyable on a screen this size, almost like using a small tablet.
The screen also supports a 120Hz refresh rate. This refresh rate is supposed to make scrolling and animations look smoother.
For outdoor use, the phone has a High Brightness Mode to keep the screen visible under sunlight. It also has a ‘Water Touch’ feature that lets the screen stay responsive even when touched with wet fingers, a small but handy addition.
Unfortunately, the 120Hz refresh rate feels more like a marketing feature than one that truly improves performance. The experience feels laggy because the phone’s hardware is not powerful enough.
This phone uses the Helio G81 chipset. A 120Hz display needs a strong GPU to render 120 frames per second smoothly. The Mali-G52 MC2 GPU in this chipset cannot handle that well, so using the 120Hz mode can cause lag.
4. Stereo Speaker and Dolby Atmos

Motorola not only focuses on visuals but also pays attention to the audio quality of the Moto G06 Power. The device comes with stereo speakers, a big advantage since most phones in the entry-level segment still use mono speakers. As a result, the sound feels more immersive and balanced for different types of entertainment.
The audio quality is improved further with Dolby Atmos support that creates a wider and more three-dimensional sound. Some sources also mention a ‘Bass Boost’ feature designed to make the bass sound twice as strong, giving a richer audio experience.
As an added convenience, Motorola keeps a feature that is now becoming rare but still loved by users, the 3.5 mm headphone jack. I personally still appreciate a phone that includes an audio jack, especially at an affordable price, because not everyone likes using TWS earphones.
The mix of stereo speakers, Dolby Atmos, and an audio jack makes the Moto G06 Power a solid portable entertainment device in its price range.
5. AI-Powered 50 MP Main Camera

The Moto G06 Power has a 50 MP main camera with Quad Pixel technology. In simple terms, this technology combines four pixels into one to capture more light. The result is a 12.5 MP photo that performs better in low-light situations with less noise. For selfies, there is an 8 MP front camera.
Motorola also includes several AI-based features. There is AI Portrait Mode for natural background blur and Auto Night Vision that adjusts settings automatically for clearer night photos.
However, a high resolution does not always mean good photo quality. I often see phones with high megapixels but average photo results. This happens because resolution alone is not the main factor that determines photo quality. The Image Signal Processor (ISP) in the chipset also plays a big role.
Since this phone uses the MediaTek Helio G81, it is clear that the ISP performance is limited. The Helio G81 is an older chip with modest processing power.
For daily use, photos taken in good lighting will probably look fine. But the quality drops sharply in low light or high dynamic range situations. This issue is not only found in the Moto G06 Power but is also common among phones in this price range.
6. Clean Software, Security Features, and AI

If someone asks me what affordable phone is suitable for parents, before 2025 I would say Samsung. But starting in 2025, there is another good choice, Motorola. Motorola offers very clean Android software.
There are no confusing features like the UIs found on many Chinese phones. The software on the Moto G06 Power feels like pure Android even though Motorola says it uses its own UI called Hello UI.
Hello UI looks similar to stock Android but adds a few customization options and extra features from Moto. Some of these include display personalization, smart media controls, and connectivity tools such as Smart Connect and Sidebar for quick access to important apps.
The interface has no bloatware, so it feels lighter and faster than other phones. It is perfect for parents who prefer simple features.
However, the Moto G06 Power is also suitable for everyone, especially for those who value security. It comes with ThinkShield for Mobile, a security system that protects the phone from hardware to software level against various cyber threats.
There is also Moto Secure, a central hub where users can manage privacy and security settings, including creating Secure Folders for sensitive apps and data.
The Moto G06 Power also includes modern AI features like Google Gemini and Circle to Search. These are rare in phones at this price level.
Circle to Search lets users find information on anything displayed on the screen by circling it without changing apps. Gemini works as a generative AI assistant that helps with various tasks.
This mix of clean software, strong security, and modern AI features makes the Moto G06 Power feel more advanced than other phones in its price range.
Cons of Motorola Moto G06 Power
Besides its strengths, there are some drawbacks to consider before buying the Moto G06 Power. Here are the weaknesses.
1. Limited Performance, Only 4 GB RAM

As mentioned earlier, the Moto G06 Power runs on the Helio G81 chip with 12 nm fabrication. This chip is not very powerful, although it is still acceptable for its price class. Unfortunately, the RAM offered is only 4 GB, which is not enough for smooth multitasking.
The performance of this chip also makes other parts of the phone feel slower, especially when supporting the 120 Hz screen. For graphics-heavy games, performance drops even more. The RAM Boost feature cannot make up for the basic weaknesses in the CPU and GPU.
In my opinion, the Moto G06 Power is not suitable for heavy tasks. It works better as a phone for communication only. Its AnTuTu v10 score is around 300,000, showing that its performance is average. Even with 4 GB of RAM, the phone still feels less responsive.
2. Screen Resolution Still HD+

The screen of this phone is quite large, but there is one major drawback. The resolution is only HD+. For a 6.88-inch display, this resolution feels low and results in poor pixel density.
In daily use, this can be seen clearly. Text looks slightly rough and less sharp, app icons are not as bold, and when watching videos or viewing images closely, they can appear pixelated.
It’s strange that Motorola promotes the large screen as ideal for watching videos. I saw some of Motorola’s social media content highlighting this feature.
However, the low resolution actually reduces the experience. Watching Full HD or 4K videos becomes pointless because the quality is lowered to fit the screen, which removes many details.
At its price range, it’s true that few phones have Full HD+ resolution. Still, since this phone has a 6.8-inch display, it would have been better if it supported Full HD+.
3. Slow charging
The battery life of the Moto G06 Power is impressive, but the charging speed is slow. The phone only supports 18-watt charging. Some promotional materials mention 20-watt TurboPower charging, but either way, it is not very fast.
What matters most is how long it takes to charge. Based on user reports, charging the Moto G06 Power can take more than two hours, and sometimes almost three, in real usage.
Conclusion
The Motorola Moto G06 Power stands out for its design and battery. Because of its strength in these areas, it is best for users who need a phone with long battery life. Those who prefer a clean interface will also find this phone suitable.
It can also work well as a second phone. However, it is not ideal for gaming since the chip is only average. This affects the 120 Hz screen and 50 MP camera, which cannot reach their full potential.
