The "Pro" models include the OPPO A6 Pro and OPPO A6 Pro 5G. In my opinion, this line continues the A9x series, as the specs are still strong and competitive. The OPPO A6 Pro 5G itself is the successor to the OPPO A5 Pro 5G.

The OPPO A6 Pro 5G is priced at around US$329. At this price, is it worth considering? Let’s take a closer look in the review below.

The Pros OPPO A6 Pro 5G

1. Strong Water, Dust, and Shock Protection

OPPO A6 Pro 5G offers great protection against water and dust with three certifications, IP66, IP68, and IP69. This means the phone can handle high-pressure water spray and can even survive being under water at a depth of 1.5 metres for up to 30 minutes.

In my opinion, OPPO has had this kind of protection before, like in the A5 series. The military-grade durability and triple IP ratings are two of the main reasons people might choose this phone. This is a smart move by OPPO, especially for users who need a phone that can handle tough situations.

Besides the IP ratings, OPPO also promotes the phone’s military-grade strength by claiming it has shock resistance. This means the phone is made to survive small accidents, like dropping it from a table or onto the street (I’ve tried more than once myself).

This durability claim comes from OPPO’s official release for the ASEAN market. It also includes a promise of stable performance for up to 60 months. So, OPPO is not only focusing on the phone’s physical strength, but also on long-term software stability.

2. Bright and Smooth 120 Hz AMOLED Screen

Honestly, when OPPO launched this phone, I thought it would come with a basic IPS screen with HD+ resolution and sell for around US$300. But I was wrong!

The OPPO A6 Pro 5G features a 6.57-inch AMOLED screen with FHD+ resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate. This makes the visuals sharp and the motion smooth.

The screen supports 10-bit colour, so it can show up to 1.07 billion colours. This makes colour transitions look smooth and natural. There are two modes available, Vivid mode with 100% DCI-P3 for more vibrant colours, and Natural mode with 100% sRGB for more accurate colour. Both are great for watching movies or doing light editing.

The display is also easy to see in many lighting conditions. It can reach up to 1400 nits of brightness in HBM mode, which helps when using the phone under direct sunlight.

The design feels modern because the screen-to-body ratio is 93%, with thin bezels only 1.67 mm wide. To help protect the screen from scratches, OPPO uses AGC DT-Star D+ glass.

For performance, the phone uses the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset. It handles daily multitasking well and can support gaming at medium settings without major issues.

This model may not be made for gamers who want top graphics performance, but it fits users who care more about comfort, stability, and long‑term reliability.

5. 50 MP Main Camera with Underwater Mode

In the camera section, the OPPO A6 Pro 5G has some great features! I read a review that mentioned the photo quality is good for its class. This raised my expectations, and I found the results quite satisfying.

The phone has two rear cameras. The main one is a 50 MP sensor with a wide f/1.8 aperture. This larger aperture allows more light to enter, so photos look clear even in low‑light situations. The AI system also helps make colours richer and reduces image noise.

The second camera is a 2 MP depth sensor that creates portrait photos with a blurred background. The subject looks more focused, while the background separation appears neat and natural. Whether in bright daylight or dim light, the photos remain usable.

Based on a review from the Helooexpress website, the camera performs very well during the day but gives average results in low‑light conditions. Overall, the camera quality can be considered good enough for daily use.

One feature that truly stands out is the Underwater Photography mode. When this mode is active, the touchscreen becomes less sensitive and the main controls move to the physical buttons.

The Volume Up button is used to take photos or start recording, while the Volume Down button switches modes. This feature is practical and prevents the frustration of tapping an unresponsive screen underwater.

OPPO A6 Pro 5G is equipped with a 16 MP front camera (f/2.4, 85° field of view, 4P lens) that produces clear selfies with natural skin tones. The resolution is good enough for light cropping without losing too much detail. In good lighting, the camera also delivers a balanced dynamic range.

For video, the front camera can record up to 1080p at 30 frames per second. This quality is more than enough for video calls, casual livestreams, or short vlogs.

The front camera also works well indoors, especially with help from the AMOLED screen. The display can act as a soft light when the room is dim. There is also a Screen Fill Light mode that makes the face brighter in low-light conditions.

In terms of features, the front camera offers Portrait, Night, Dual-view Video, and Time-Lapse modes. The Portrait mode gives good background blur for profile photos. The Night mode increases brightness and reduces noise. Dual-view allows both front and rear cameras to record at the same time, which is useful for storytelling or reactions.

For daily use and social media, these features make the front camera feel practical and complete. According to tech reviewer Mahmoud Taman, the front camera produces sharp and clear photos, even in slightly dark conditions. This is supported by features like face enhancement and a dedicated night mode.

Even the front camera carries the rugged phone spirit. It still supports Underwater Photography mode, which allows users to take selfies in shallow water using physical buttons.

I agree with his review. Considering the price, the front camera experience on the OPPO A6 Pro 5G feels solid and should satisfy most users.

7. 2-Year OS Support and Complete Connectivity

OPPO A6 Pro 5G runs on ColorOS 15, based on Android 15. It has a smooth experience with helpful tools like Smart Sidebar for quick multitasking and AI Eraser for editing photos more easily.

More importantly, OPPO guarantees two major Android OS updates and three years of security updates. This gives users peace of mind, knowing the software will stay secure and up to date for the next few years.

Some brands may offer longer support, but two OS updates and three years of security patches are already a good deal in this price range.

In terms of connectivity, this phone is ready for everyday use. It supports fast 5G networks and uses the AI LinkBoost 3.0 feature to help maintain a strong and stable connection.

For wireless options, the phone includes dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.4 with better power saving, and NFC for digital payments or scanning. As for physical ports, the USB Type-C supports OTG. This means you can plug in other devices like USB flash drives directly.

Cons of OPPO A6 Pro 5G

1. Performance is not the fastest in its price range

Performance is one of the important parts to think about before buying this phone. The MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset can run daily tasks and popular games smoothly at medium graphics settings.

For daily use such as social media, messaging, or streaming, the phone feels fast and smooth without lag. For gaming, it can handle light and medium games quite well, but heavy games need to use medium graphics settings to stay stable.

When compared with other phones in the Rp4 million price range, the performance is still below some rivals. Phones such as the Infinix GT 30 Pro, iQOO Z10, POCO X7 5G, and Samsung Galaxy A36 5G have stronger chipsets that can handle gaming and multitasking better.

In short, the OPPO A6 Pro 5G is good for smooth daily use and casual gaming. But for users who want high frame rates and maximum settings, there are faster phones in the same price range.

2. No Ultrawide camera

Another weakness is the lack of an ultrawide camera. Many phones in this price class already have one, so its absence is quite noticeable.

Without an ultrawide lens, it becomes harder to take landscape or group photos in small spaces. Users need to move back to get the full view. The panorama mode is available, but it is not as quick or easy to use as an ultrawide camera.

If you like to take wide photos or group shots, this can be a disadvantage. Hopefully, future OPPO phones in this price level will include an ultrawide lens again.

3. Hybrid microSD slot and no audio jack

The OPPO A6 Pro 5G uses a hybrid SIM slot, which means users must choose between using two SIM cards or one SIM and one microSD card. This is less flexible for people who need both active SIM cards and extra storage.

In addition, the phone does not have a 3.5 mm audio jack. This can be a small problem for those who still use wired earphones, although many users have now switched to TWS earphones.

Conclusion

At around US$300, the OPPO A6 Pro 5G is strong in daily use. It has IP54 water and dust resistance, a bright AMOLED screen, and a 7000 mAh battery that supports 80W SUPERVOOC fast charging.

The Dimensity 6300 offers stable performance for everyday use, the main camera gives good results for casual photos and videos, and the 5G and NFC features make daily life easier.

However, the phone is not made for heavy gaming, does not have an ultrawide camera, and has a hybrid slot. It is best for users who want a durable phone with a clear screen and long battery life, rather than for gamers or camera lovers who need a wide lens.
