The Pros and Cons of Tecno Spark 40 Pro
After the success of Tecno Spark 30 Pro, now it is time for Tecno Spark 40 Pro to take the stage. This phone is the middle model in the series and feels like the best choice. Some improvements in the screen, battery, and design make it more attractive!
Tecno Spark 40 Pro is still sold at an affordable price. Tecno also made some changes to give users a better experience. If you are curious about its strengths and weaknesses, here are the details.
Pros of Tecno Spark 40 Pro
Tecno Spark 40 Pro is sold for around US$149,00, a bit higher than the older model. The higher price follows the new features it brings. These are some of its good points.
1. New design with thin and light body, easy to carry

Compact body design is a trend in 2025. Tecno Spark 40 Pro has a body that is only 6.69 mm thick and weighs 170 grams. It feels comfortable to use for a long time. Putting it in your pocket wouldn't be a problem!
The back design is quite simple. It only has three camera circles placed vertically at the top. At first glance, it looks very similar to Samsung phones, even in the placement of the LED flash.
Compared to its predecessor, Tecno Spark 30 Pro, this design looks very different. The older model used a round camera module with a marbled pattern. That design felt more unique and stood out.
The body is still made of plastic with either matte or glossy finish. Fingerprint stains do not stick easily but the body can still get dirty. It comes in four colors, Ink Black, Moon Titanium, Lake Blue, and Bamboo Green.
For durability, Tecno Spark 40 Pro has IP64 certification. This means it can resist dust and water splashes. It is also safe if bumped or dropped from a height of 1.5 metres.
2. Bright and Sharp AMOLED Screen with 144 Hz Refresh Rate

The screen is one of the biggest upgrades. The size is still 6.78 inches with an AMOLED panel. The bezels are thinner, so it looks wider with a screen-to-body ratio of 89.3 percent.
The resolution is now higher at 1.5K or 1224 x 2720 pixels with 440 ppi pixel density. With the same size, the screen looks sharper and more pleasant to see. It also supports up to 1 billion colours.
For outdoor use, the brightness can reach 4500 nit (peak). This is much higher than the Tecno Spark 30 Pro, which was only 1700 nit. So the screen stays clear even under the hot sun.
The best part is the refresh rate that can reach 144 Hz. Usually, only gaming phones have this feature. It makes scrolling and gaming feel smoother and more premium.
The screen also has TUV Rheinland certification. This helps reduce eye strain during long use. It also has 2160 Hz PWM Dimming to make the eyes feel less tired.
3. Loud Stereo Speakers with Volume Up to 300 Percent

Tecno Spark 40 Pro is great if you like music or movies. It already has stereo speakers, with speaker holes at the top and bottom. The sound feels balanced and gives a better surround effect.
There is also a feature called Volume Plus. With this, the volume can go up to 300 percent, not just 100 percent. The sound becomes very loud, which can help in crowded places when you need to answer calls.
But when the volume is higher than 100 percent, the sound details are lost. This is not good for listening to music or watching films. For better sound, you can use wired earphones. The phone still has a 3.5 mm audio jack which gives deeper and closer sound.
4. Using Helio G100 Performance, Gaming Feels More Immersive

Tecno Spark 40 Pro still relies on the Helio G100 chipset, the same one used in the previous generation. It seems that Tecno has not been able to use the Helio G200, which is already found in the Infinix Hot 60 Pro.
Even so, the Helio G200 has almost the same power as the Helio G100 or even the Helio G99. That is why the Tecno Spark 40 Pro keeps using the Helio G100. It helps reduce the price while also letting Tecno focus on improving other important parts of the phone.
The Helio G100 is built with a 6 nm process and has eight CPU cores. There are two Cortex A76 cores (2.2 GHz) for performance and six Cortex A55 cores (2 GHz) for efficiency. The GPU is still Mali G57 MP2 running at 1000 MHz.
This performance is supported by enough memory. The Tecno Spark 40 Pro comes with 8 GB LPDDR4x RAM and has an option to expand with virtual RAM. The internal storage is either 128 GB or 256 GB with UFS 2.2 type.
The phone also gives you a dedicated microSD slot that supports up to 1 TB. This is very spacious considering the price of this phone.
According to Ben Freeman in his video, the performance is similar to the Tecno Spark 30 Pro. It can handle multitasking and gaming smoothly without issues.
Due to its higher resolution and refresh rate, the experience feels even better. The improvement is not about faster speed but about smoother visuals and sharper details, which make gaming and multitasking more enjoyable.
5. 50 MP Main Camera Works Well for Daily Portraits, Supports 2K Video

Tecno Spark 40 Pro now has a 50 MP main camera, which is lower than the 108 MP camera on the Tecno Spark 30 Pro. But resolution is not the only factor that decides photo quality. In fact, the results are still competitive in its price range.
The main camera has an f/1.9 aperture and PDAF support. The sensor is basically the same as the older model, with only the resolution number being different. It can record video up to 2K or 1440p at 30 FPS, which is good for a phone in this class. The front camera remains 13 MP.
The camera setup is the same as the Tecno Spark 40 Pro+. The only difference is video stability, which is slightly better on the Pro+ version. For photos, both models produce clear images with good sharpness, dynamic range, and detail.
6. Full Connectivity and Sensors with Fingerprint Under the Screen

Tecno Spark 40 Pro comes with complete connectivity and sensors. The fingerprint sensor is already under the screen because the phone uses an AMOLED panel, not IPS LCD like many others in the same class.
It also has a gyro sensor, which is very useful for gaming, especially FPS games. Since it is hardware-based, the response is fast without lag or delay, making gameplay more enjoyable.
For connectivity, the Tecno Spark 40 Pro is equipped with NFC that works in 360 degrees. This makes it easier to use for digital payments, checking or topping up e-money, and even as a toll card or hotel room access card.
Another feature is the infrared blaster. This lets the phone act as a remote control for electronic devices like TVs, air conditioners, and projectors.
7. 5200 mAh Battery that Lasts All Day with Fast Charging

Tecno Spark 40 Pro also brings an upgrade in the battery sector. The capacity is now 5200 mAh, slightly bigger than the 5000 mAh on the Tecno Spark 30 Pro. What is interesting is that the phone is actually thinner even with the larger battery.
With this capacity, the battery life is reliable for daily use. You can multitask, scroll through social media, or play games without worrying that the phone will run out of power too quickly.
The charging speed has been upgraded to 45W. It only takes about 56 minutes to fully charge, so you don't have to wait too long before using it again. There is also a 10W reverse charging feature that lets the phone act as a power bank to charge other devices such as smartwatches or wireless earphones.
Cons of Tecno Spark 40 Pro
Even with many strong points, there are some notes you might want to know about this phone:
1. Simple Camera Setup without Ultrawide Lens

Tecno Spark 40 Pro only has one main camera that works properly on the back. Even though there are three camera circles, the others are only depth sensors or just for design.
It would have been more useful if Tecno had put an ultrawide lens instead of a depth sensor. An ultrawide lens can capture more objects in one frame, which is very helpful for group photos or wide scenery.
But to keep the phone price affordable, Tecno decided not to include this feature. This is common for mid-range and entry-level phones.
2. No 5G Network Support at This Price

Another weakness is that the Tecno Spark 40 Pro still does not support 5G. This is one of the reasons why it keeps using the Helio G100 chipset from the previous generation. The performance for multitasking and gaming is still good, but the network support feels behind.
Tecno says the phone supports a faster 4.5G connection. This is better than standard 4G, with download speeds up to 300 Mbps. While that is already quite fast for its price, it still cannot match the convenience of 5G.
The absence of 5G is more noticeable because there are already many phones with 5G at the same price or even cheaper. Some examples are itel P55 5G, Infinix Hot 50 5G, Samsung Galaxy M15 5G, Tecno POVA 6 Pro 5G, and iQOO Z9x.
Conclusion
Tecno Spark 40 Pro has a design that will divide opinions. Some people may like its simple look, while others may think it is too plain and too similar to other brands. But its thinner body with a bigger 5200 mAh battery is a good improvement.
The biggest highlight is the screen. It is sharper, brighter, and smoother with a 144 Hz refresh rate. The performance is still based on the Helio G100, but the experience feels different and more enjoyable because of the better visuals and audio.
The main downsides are the lack of a 5G network and the absence of an ultrawide camera. Even so, this phone still offers strong value with the upgrades it brings. Whether it is worth buying depends on how much you value those improvements.
