The Pros and Cons of Xiaomi 15T Pro

The Xiaomi T Series has always been one of the best choices in the high-end smartphone segment. The regular version, the Xiaomi 15T, already has great performance, but the Xiaomi 15T Pro takes it even further. As the successor to the Xiaomi 14T Pro, this phone brings several key upgrades worth talking about.

The Xiaomi 15T Pro now comes with a slightly larger battery for better endurance. Its design looks more refined, the performance feels stronger, and of course, the camera remains the main highlight. Let’s take a closer look at its pros and cons below.

Pros of Xiaomi 15T Pro

1. Leica’s Powerful Periscope and Portrait Camera

Xiaomi 15T Pro

The biggest highlight of the Xiaomi 15T Pro is its camera. Once again, Xiaomi continues its partnership with the world-famous camera brand Leica.

The phone uses Leica Summilux Optical lenses, the same class of lens found in Xiaomi’s flagship models like the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 15. This collaboration gives photos a professional look with that signature Leica Authentic tone.

The camera setup is similar to the Xiaomi 14T Pro. On the back, you get a 50 MP main camera using a Light Fusion 900 sensor. It has an f/1.6 aperture, a 1/1.31-inch sensor size, and OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) for steadier shots. There’s also a 12 MP ultrawide camera with an f/2.2 aperture for capturing wide-angle scenes.

One big upgrade is the new telephoto periscope lens. It comes with a 50 MP sensor, an f/3.0 aperture, and OIS support for sharper zoom shots. This lens can achieve 5x optical zoom, making it the first in the Xiaomi T Series to offer such capability.

Another great feature is Master Portrait Mode, which separates subjects and backgrounds with smooth, natural edges. The results look stunning, with rich detail and Leica-style colors that make portraits feel alive.

The Xiaomi 15T Pro also supports professional videography features. It includes 10-bit Log recording with 4K 60 FPS video for sharper visuals and easier post-editing. There’s also a Pro mode with multiple LUT options, plus three microphones that help record clear and detailed audio.

2. Stylish and Waterproof Design

Xiaomi 15T Pro

The design of the Xiaomi 15T Pro is not very different from the Xiaomi 14T Pro. Both still use a square camera module with four circles inside. The design that once received criticism now looks more appealing after a few small updates.

The camera module corners are now more rounded for a more elegant and stylish look. The phone’s overall corners are also slightly curved. That's why it's more comfortable to hold and no longer sharp in the hand.

The back edges are now flat, unlike the curved design of the previous model. This change makes the phone look more premium and improves the grip to make it feel more solid and balanced. The body is also thinner at 8 mm, compared to 8.4 mm on the Xiaomi 14T Pro.

If you look closely, the camera lenses no longer stick out. They are now level with the module, which helps reduce the risk of scratches or damage. The body and frame still use the same materials, with a smooth matte finish that feels pleasant to touch.

The Xiaomi 15T Pro is available in three colors, Mocha Gold, Black, and Gray. The difference between them is purely in color.

For the phone's durability, it carries an IP68 rating. Not only that, the phone can also survive in water up to 3 meters deep for 30 minutes, which is slightly better than the Xiaomi 14T Pro that could only handle 2 meters.

3. Large AMOLED Screen with 144 Hz Refresh Rate

Xiaomi 15T Pro

The Xiaomi 15T Pro has a 6.83-inch AMOLED screen. It is bigger than the 6.67-inch display on the older model. The bezels are very thin at only 1.5 mm on each side, so the screen covers about 90.4 percent of the front area.

The screen resolution is 1.5K (1280 × 2772 pixels). This gives a clear and sharp image for watching movies or browsing social media. The display also supports Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and 12-bit color, which help colors appear bright and natural.

The screen refresh rate reaches 144 Hz, so scrolling and gaming feel smooth. Some games can also use higher frame rates for better visuals. With peak brightness up to 3200 nits, the screen stays visible even under sunlight. It has Gorilla Glass 7i protection that helps prevent scratches and cracks.

The display is also comfortable indoors, even in low-light situations. It has DC Dimming up to 3840 Hz PWM and TÜV Rheinland certifications for Low Blue Light, Flicker-Free, and Circadian Friendly viewing. These features help reduce eye strain when you use the phone for a long time.

4. Stereo Speakers with Dolby Atmos

Xiaomi 15T Pro

To give users a better experience when watching or playing games, the Xiaomi 15T Pro comes with stereo speakers. The main speaker is placed at the bottom of the phone, while the second one is located near the earpiece. Because of this position, the sound can feel a bit unbalanced, with the lower speaker sounding louder.

Even so, the sound quality is very good. The volume is strong, and the tone feels rich and clear. This quality comes from Dolby Atmos technology, which creates a surround sound effect. Watching videos or playing games becomes more enjoyable, even without using earphones or external speakers.

5. Xiaomi HyperAI with HyperOS 3

Xiaomi 15T

When it was released, the Xiaomi 15T Pro came with HyperOS 2, an Android-based interface. Although it did not launch with HyperOS 3, Xiaomi confirmed that this model will receive the update soon after release.

HyperOS 3 brings a smoother and more stable user experience. It also improves Xiaomi HyperAI for an easier and more flexible use. Xiaomi HyperAI offers three main functions, such as daily task support, personal assistance, and creative tools.

The first function helps with everyday activities. Features like AI Writing assist in writing, brainstorming, and checking spelling. AI Speech Recognition can identify different voices during transcription. There are also tools like AI Interpreter for translation and AI Search for finding information faster.

The second function includes AI tools that work with Google Gemini, that's already a common feature in 2025 smartphones.

These include Gemini Overlay, Gemini Live, Image Generation, and Gemini Connected Apps. You can also use Circle to Search with Google, which helps you find information easily by circling what you want to search for on the screen.

The third function focuses on creativity. These features help improve and edit photos. For example, AI Erase Pro removes unwanted objects, AI Image Enhancement improves photo quality, and AI Image Expansion allows you to extend image backgrounds naturally.

6. Strong Signal and Offline Communication Support

Xiaomi 15T Pro

As a high-end smartphone, the Xiaomi 15T Pro brings several advanced connectivity features. One of them is the Xiaomi Surge T1S Tuner chip, which helps optimize network performance for mobile data, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS. This makes the connection more stable during streaming, live sessions, or gaming.

Another important feature is the Super Antenna Array. It improves signal strength, whether the phone is held vertically or horizontally. Xiaomi claims this feature can boost signal stability by up to 52% while scrolling, 53% during gaming, and 47% when making calls.

The Xiaomi 15T Pro also includes a feature called Xiaomi Offline Communication. As the name suggests, it allows users to make calls without a mobile signal within a distance of up to 1.3 km. However, this feature is not designed for emergency use, since it may not always work perfectly under certain conditions.

To use this feature, the phone must have a SIM card, the user must log in to a Xiaomi account, and Bluetooth must be turned on. Calls should be made in open areas, as walls and buildings can block the connection. It’s also important to note that this feature is not supported in every country.

7. Powered by Dimensity 9400 Plus

Xiaomi 15T Pro

The Xiaomi 15T Pro runs on the powerful MediaTek Dimensity 9400 Plus chipset. This is one of the strongest processors currently available and is also used in other flagship phones like the realme GT 7 (China), OnePlus Ace 5 Ultra, and iQOO Z10 Turbo Plus. Its performance easily competes with phones in the same or even higher class.

This 3 nm chipset is built with eight CPU cores. It includes one Cortex-X925 prime core running up to 3.73 GHz, three Cortex-X4 cores at 3.3 GHz, and four Cortex-A720 cores at 2.4 GHz. The graphics are handled by the Immortalis G925 GPU with a frequency of 1612 MHz, which provides strong and stable visual performance.

To make the performance even better, the Xiaomi 15T Pro combines this chip with large memory options. It comes with 12 GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and two internal storage options in Indonesia; 256 GB and 512 GB (UFS 4.1). The 1 TB version is not yet available in the Indonesian market.

In benchmark tests by TechNick, the Xiaomi 15T Pro achieved an AnTuTu v10 score of 2.68 million. This result is close to the vivo X200 Pro with the same chipset, which scored 2.65 million, and the Xiaomi 15 Ultra with Snapdragon 8 Elite, which scored 2.77 million.

8. 5500 mAh Battery with Wireless Charging

Xiaomi 15T Pro

One of the main issues with the Xiaomi 14T Pro was its poor battery life. Xiaomi has now improved it by giving the Xiaomi 15T Pro a 5500 mAh battery, 500 mAh larger than before. This upgrade provides longer use time and better power efficiency.

According to Xiaomi, the phone can last up to 15.29 hours of active use. It also features the Xiaomi 3D IceLoop System, which helps maintain good performance while using power more efficiently.

Interestingly, Xiaomi reduced the wired charging speed from 120W on the previous model to 90W on this one. The change seems to focus on improving battery health and long-term durability. Even so, the charging speed is still impressive. It takes only about 36 minutes to fully charge the phone.

The wireless charging feature is also worth noting. It supports up to 50W and can fully charge the battery in around 56 minutes.

Cons of Xiaomi 15T Pro

1. No MicroSD Slot for Extra Storage

One thing to note about the Xiaomi 15T Pro is the lack of a microSD slot. However, this is quite common for phones in the upper mid-range and high-end class. Many brands remove this slot to keep the phone’s performance more stable with factory-installed storage.

Fortunately, the phone already offers large RAM and internal storage options, so users can still save plenty of photos, videos, and apps without worrying about running out of space.

2. No 3.5 mm Audio Jack

Another missing feature on the Xiaomi 15T Pro is the 3.5 mm headphone jack. This makes it a bit harder to use wired earphones. You will need a Type-C to 3.5 mm converter, or you can use Type-C earphones directly.

A better solution is to use TWS (wireless earphones). They are easier to connect, and since the phone supports Bluetooth 6.0, the connection is more stable with very little delay. This is actually perfect for gaming or watching videos.

3. Still Using USB Type-C 2.0

Xiaomi 15T Pro

Just like the previous model, the Xiaomi 15T Pro still comes with a USB Type-C 2.0 port. This standard is still fine for mid-range phones, but it feels a bit outdated for a device in the high-end class.

USB 2.0 means data transfer is slower compared to USB 3.0 or newer versions. The phone also doesn't support display output, so you cannot project the screen to an external monitor using a cable.

That said, this feature is still rare in phones priced below US$600. Xiaomi may have kept the USB 2.0 standard to make the phone more affordable while still offering flagship-like performance.

Conclusion

The Xiaomi 15T Pro is one of the best phones in the Xiaomi T Series. It offers great Leica-style photo and video quality, especially with its new periscope camera that makes long-distance shots look sharper and more detailed.

Powered by the Dimensity 9400 Plus chipset, this phone gives strong performance. It can reach more than 2.5 million points on AnTuTu, showing how fast it is for multitasking and gaming. It also has good power efficiency with features like 3D IceLoop cooling, a flexible refresh rate, and a 5500 mAh battery that lasts longer.

The design looks more stylish even with small updates. However, there are still some things missing, such as a microSD slot, a 3.5 mm audio jack, and a USB Type-C 2.0 port. If you don't mind those limits, the Xiaomi 15T Pro is still one of the best phones to choose this year.
