10 Best Video Cutting Apps for Android

Written by Sera Serinda A

Posting videos on social media has become part of our daily routine. But let’s be honest—not every video turns out the way we want. That’s why trimming and cutting tools are so useful.

Luckily, you don’t need complicated editing software on a PC anymore. There are plenty of easy-to-use video cutting apps available for Android that get the job done right from your phone.

These apps are beginner-friendly. Just upload your video, trim the unwanted parts, and save! It’s that simple and practical.

1. YouCut

YouCut is a full-featured video editor, and as expected, it includes powerful tools for cutting videos. When I tried it, the Trim option was front and center on the main editing page.

Tapping on it opens a trimming window with three functions: Trim, Cut, and Split. Here’s how they differ: Trim removes a specific unwanted segment, Cut slices the video into two parts and deletes one, while Split divides the video into multiple segments without deleting anything.

To edit, just drag the markers to select the section you want to cut and check the timestamp for accuracy. Once you’re satisfied, tap the checkmark to apply the changes. If you're only cutting the video, you can go ahead and export it right away—but you can also continue editing with other tools if needed.

YouCut stands out with its clean, aesthetic interface. It’s easy to navigate, and new users are guided by a quick tutorial upon first launch.

What I like about this app:

  • Aesthetic and intuitive interface
  • Simple navigation
  • Trimming tools are grouped together and free to use

One thing to note:

  • Some editing features are locked behind a premium subscription

2. Video Cutter & Video Editor by MMedia Tech

This app from MMedia Tech offers a wide range of tools commonly used for video editing. It allows you to trim, compress, crop, split, and merge videos, as well as add audio or extract MP3 files—all with user-friendly controls.

While several tools can cut videos, I personally recommend using Cut & Compress, which includes Trim, Cut, and Split options all in one place. You can choose the function that best suits your needs.

A unique feature here is the screenshot tool, which lets you capture frames from the video directly within the editor. It’s a handy bonus if you want to save still images while editing.

If your main focus is trimming and editing videos, this app is definitely worth considering.

What I like about this app:

  • Offers a wide selection of video editing tools, including cutting features
  • Cutting tools are effective and easy to operate
  • Built-in screenshot tool for grabbing frames from your video

One thing to note:

  • The app doesn’t provide tutorials for new users

3. Video Crop and Trim by UPlayer

UPlayer offers a video editing app specifically designed for cropping and trimming footage. You can crop the frame size or cut specific parts from your videos—all within one tool.

One feature I found especially useful is the display showing the conversion speed, which adjusts based on the size of the video you're exporting. The bigger the video, the faster the conversion process.

Another convenient option is the ability to mute the video while editing, so you can easily create silent clips without using a separate tool.

What I like about this app:

  • Lets you both crop the video frame and trim footage
  • All cropping and cutting functions are bundled in one tool
  • Offers audio muting for silent video output

One thing to note:

  • Does not yet support splitting videos into separate clips

4. Timbre

Timbre_

Timbre isn’t just for trimming videos—it’s a versatile app that also lets you merge clips, convert formats, add watermarks, and even create GIFs. Better yet, it supports not only video files but also audio and image files.

Unlike other apps on this list, Timbre focuses on just two video cutting tools: Cut and Split. Both are based on timestamps, allowing you to trim clips precisely by setting specific time durations.

However, it doesn’t support frame-by-frame editing, which makes it less ideal for projects like stop-motion videos that require precise, frame-level cuts. Still, for general editing or media conversion tasks, Timbre offers plenty of useful features.

What I like about this app:

  • Multifunctional tool for editing and converting videos, audio, and images
  • Offers Cut and Split tools for video trimming
  • Time-based cutting for more accurate edits

Things to note:

  • Doesn’t support frame-by-frame precision
  • Only exports videos in MP4 format

5. Video Cutter & Trimmer by ZipoApps

Video Cutter & Trimmer by ZipoApps_

Video Cutter & Trimmer by ZipoApps is one of the most well-rounded apps I’ve used for cutting videos. While its main focus is on trimming and cropping, it offers impressive customization options that make it stand out.

For instance, the crop tool supports a wide range of aspect ratios—portrait, square, landscape, and more unusual ratios like 18:9, 22:9, 5:4, and 5:7. You can even input your own dimensions manually.

It also gives you control over conversion speed, output quality, and bitrate—ideal if you’re looking to upscale videos, with support for resolutions up to 2K.

The Trim feature is just as noteworthy. Besides manual trimming, it includes preset options to cut clips into specific durations like 3, 5, or 10 seconds—something rarely seen in similar apps.

That said, the app doesn’t include a split tool, and not all features are free. However, the core Trim and Crop tools are fully accessible and watermark-free.

What I like about this app:

  • Simple interface with powerful Trim and Crop features
  • Custom video output settings available
  • Unique time-based Trim presets
  • Free to use core features, without watermarks

Things to note:

  • Some additional features require a Pro subscription
  • No split tool available

6. Cute CUT

Cute CUT_

Despite its name, Cute CUT offers more than just trimming—it’s a full-fledged video editing app. Besides cutting clips, you can rotate footage, adjust color balance, flip videos, and more.

The app’s interface looks similar to desktop video editors, complete with multi-layer editing support. However, the design may be a bit overwhelming for beginners, as the tools are represented by icons only—without labels.

As someone relatively new to video editing, I found it a bit confusing at first. The editing tools don’t appear until you double-tap on a video clip, which isn’t immediately obvious. Once you get the hang of it, though, the drag-and-drop system makes it easy to trim and edit your videos.

What I like about this app:

  • Comprehensive video editor with clip cutting functionality
  • Supports multi-layer editing like desktop software
  • Includes a variety of advanced editing tools

Things to note:

  • Not beginner-friendly—tool icons lack labels
  • May require some learning to navigate the interface

7. Viva Video

Viva Video_

VivaVideo includes a range of video editing tools, including split and crop features. But what sets it apart are its more advanced and unique video cutting functions, such as AutoCut and BeatCut, which are available as separate features within the app.

AutoCut automatically trims your video into shorter clips based on duration or logical cut points. It's a great time-saver if you don’t want to manually review and cut the video yourself.

Meanwhile, BeatCut detects the rhythm of background music and cuts the video accordingly, creating seamless edits that match the beat. This is especially useful for creating music-synced content for platforms like TikTok or Instagram.

Another standout tool is Smart Crop, which uses object detection to identify faces or key elements in your footage, automatically adjusting the frame to keep the focus on them.

Even though VivaVideo doesn’t feature a dedicated Cut tool by name, basic editing functions allow you to trim clips directly by dragging their edges on the timeline.

What I like about this app:

  • Packed with both basic and advanced video editing tools
  • Offers creative features like AutoCut, BeatCut, and Smart Crop
  • Supports exporting in video and GIF formats

One thing to note:

  • Free version includes a watermark on exported videos

8. InShot

InShot_

InShot is a well-known app that makes video editing easy and accessible. After choosing the video you want to edit, you’re taken to a clean editing interface that includes tools like Trim and Split.

If you're focusing on cutting specifically, check out the Precut menu. Here, you'll find Trim, Split, and Cut tools that let you edit either by time or by frame, giving you better control over precision cuts.

One of InShot’s most innovative features is its AI-powered cut tool. This smart function detects and removes filler content, like long pauses or unnecessary words, to make your video more concise. It's ideal for talking-head or vlog-style content.

However, this AI Cut tool is only available for one free use. To unlock unlimited access, you’ll need to upgrade to the Pro version. Additionally, the feature currently supports only a few languages, though support is expected to expand.

What I like about this app:

  • Comprehensive and beginner-friendly cutting tools
  • AI Cut feature helps trim videos quickly and efficiently
  • Option to remove watermark by watching ads
  • Easy-to-navigate user interface

One thing to note:

  • Some advanced features, including AI Cut, are locked behind a Pro subscription

9. PowerDirector

PowerDirector_
play-store-button

PowerDirector offers all the basic cutting tools, such as Trim and Split. However, these features are slightly scattered across the interface—trimming is done by dragging the edges of clips directly on the timeline, while Split is available as a labeled tool.

The app also includes a Crop & Rotate feature, which allows you to crop the video frame while simultaneously adjusting its rotation—something rarely seen in similar apps.

PowerDirector supports exporting videos in resolutions up to 4K, but this feature is only available for Pro users. Subscribing to the Pro version also removes the watermark added to videos in the free version.

What I like about this app:

  • Provides essential cutting features with labeled tools
  • Crop & Rotate feature adds extra flexibility
  • Supports high-quality exports up to 4K
  • Tools are well-organized and user-friendly

Things to note:

  • Free version adds a watermark to videos
  • Some features require a Pro subscription

10. CapCut

CapCut_
play-store-button

CapCut has become a go-to app for millions of users, especially those creating content for social media. Its simple interface and compatibility with different formats make it a reliable all-in-one editor.

CapCut offers basic tools like Split, Trim, and Crop, making it more than sufficient for general video editing. Although it doesn’t include a precision Cut tool with frame-by-frame or time-based trimming, it’s still easy to use for straightforward edits.

One of CapCut’s biggest advantages is that it doesn’t leave a watermark on exported videos. Although it adds a CapCut logo by default, users can easily remove it during editing.

The app supports resolutions up to 4K and even includes AI-powered tools like Ultra HD enhancement to make your videos look sharper and cleaner.

What I like about this app:

  • Rich set of editing tools, including basic cutting features
  • No watermark on final videos
  • Optimized for social media formats
  • Includes high-end features like AI Ultra HD

Things to note:

  • No time-based or frame-accurate Cut tool
  • Some features are Pro-only

These apps make video cutting quick and hassle-free—perfect for creating content on the go. Whether you’re trimming vlogs, preparing reels, or just cleaning up clips before posting, there's an app in this list to suit your needs. So, which one will you try first?
