Mario Kart Tour delivers the full Mario Kart experience that fans have come to expect, even as a mobile game. Iconic characters like Peach, Daisy, Bowser, and many more make an appearance, though they aren’t unlocked right from the start.

The initial download is smooth and enjoyable. After a quick 100 MB download from the Google Play Store, players are prompted to download an additional 977 MB of data. Luckily, you can enjoy a preview of the game while this download is in progress.

I particularly appreciate the quality-of-life features in the game. It includes fun mechanics like Smart Steering, gyro sensor controls for turning, and the option to disable Manual Mode. Overall, the experience felt quite similar to playing Mario Kart 8 on the Nintendo Switch.

One thing to note: Mario Kart Tour is played in portrait orientation, so if you're used to playing games on your phone in landscape mode, it might feel a bit off at first. But don’t worry, it’s easy to get used to.

Can you play Mario Kart Tour with a friend? Absolutely! However, it requires each player to have their own Android device since there’s no split-screen mode. To start, simply tap the Multiplayer button in the bottom left corner of the main menu. Then, in the "Friends and Family" section, select the Create Room option.

You can play with up to 8 friends, or opt for the 2-Player Challenge mode for some head-to-head action. If your friends are busy but you don’t feel like battling AI, no problem, you can compete against players from around the world by choosing the Race or Battle options in the Worldwide section.

• The portrait orientation might feel uncomfortable for players used to landscape mode in other racing games.
• The touchscreen controls can feel a bit clunky, though this might just require some adjustment.
• Gamepad support is not available.
• While the graphics are recognizable, they don’t quite match the quality of a competitor like Beach Buggy Racing 2.
• The tilt steering isn’t as smooth as in Mario Kart 8 on the Nintendo Switch, which may vary depending on the Android device.
• A Nintendo account is required before you can start playing.

2. Roblox

For parents with school-aged children, the Android game Roblox might be quite familiar. This game offers a multiplayer experience, allowing players to interact with others from around the world.

Roblox features game modes across various genres like racing, fighting, survival, and more. The first mode I tried was CDID, also known as Car Driving Indonesia. You can play solo or create a server to play with friends, or simply join an existing server.

However, my experience with CDID was less than impressive. Due to either a technical issue or some other problem, I got stuck on the loading screen and couldn’t play.

I then tried another game mode called Brookhaven. It’s an RPG where players can freely roam and engage in various activities within the city. It reminded me a bit of Grand Theft Auto at first glance.

In Brookhaven, you can drive cars or bikes, own a house, and role-play with other players. I recommend playing this game with friends rather than strangers, as playing solo can quickly become boring.

I also tried a mini-game called Dungeon Quest, an action RPG where you fight monsters in a fantasy medieval world. In my first session, I had to battle various minions before facing the boss monster, the Sand Golem. After defeating the boss, you join other players in a shared area.

Graphically, Roblox is similar to Minecraft. It’s a bit of an acquired taste, especially for those who prefer realistic graphics. However, most Roblox players would argue that its blocky, simple style is part of its charm.

One of the best two-player games on Android, according to Carisinyal, is MapleStory M. This MMORPG brings a sense of nostalgia, especially with its graphics reminiscent of Ragnarok.

With its chibi and adorable art style, this hack-and-slash RPG has captured the hearts of many fans. Its side-scrolling perspective also brings back memories of Elsword on PC, though the gameplay feels quite different.

When starting MapleStory M, you can choose between playing as a sword-wielding knight or an archery warrior. There are also other unique characters with distinct styles and backgrounds, such as Adele, Cadena, Kanna, Ark, Sia, Explorer, Dual Blade, and more. Since I enjoy fast-paced gameplay, I opted for the Dual Blade class.

The hack-and-slash mechanics really stand out, with several skills that allow you to quickly defeat smaller enemies. The game’s world is vast, offering various cities like Kerning City, Henesys, Perion, Elinia, and more for you to explore.

You can also team up with a friend in MapleStory M. Simply tap the hamburger menu in the top right, select "Community," and either add a nearby user or search for your friend's character by entering their username in the "Search Players" menu.

If you're familiar with Mobile Legends and Honor of Kings, you might find World of Warships: Blitz War quite unique and intriguing. This MOBA game focuses on naval warfare, offering a fresh twist on the genre for Android.

The initial interface bears some resemblance to Mobile Legends, but instead of choosing heroes, you select different types of warships.

These special skills feature a quick event mechanism. Successfully completing these quick events can double the attack damage.

To play Mortal Kombat online, you'll need to choose one of the available factions, such as Black Dragon, Brotherhood of Shadow, Lin Kuei, Special Forces, and White Lotus. You can then battle players from around the world. If you want to fight a friend, ensure that they are in a different faction.

Unlike most two-player Android games, which require two devices, Jumping Ninja Battle stands out by allowing players to compete on the same device.

This is a chibi-style ninja fighting game with a small file size, making it accessible for most devices. At the start, you get two free characters: a red ninja and a blue ninja.

Jumping Ninja Battle offers at least 10 different characters, but apart from the free ninjas, the rest must be unlocked through in-app purchases. Fortunately, you can also claim these paid characters for free by watching video ads.

Some of the unlockable characters include Guan Yu, a Quarterback (baseball player), Drill Miner, a lamp genie, Bazooka Bear, a ninja turtle, and many others.

8. Wordox

If you enjoy word games like Scribble, you might like Wordox on Android, which offers a similar experience. In this game, you insert English words either vertically or horizontally into empty boxes.

If the word you enter isn't in the English dictionary, you get one more chance to try again. But if you get it wrong a second time, you'll need to use a "joker" to enter the correct word without losing your turn.

The first player to reach 25 points wins. What's unique about Wordox is that you can reduce your opponent's score by "overwriting" their colored tiles with your own.

The game board has 50 boxes, some containing stars. You can collect these stars by placing letters on them to form words. Once you place a letter in any corner, the stars you’ve gathered turn into points, and the board resets for a new round.

The Wordox game mainly relies on vocabulary skills rather than luck, as all players have access to the same letter options; the only difference is the color of the letters.

In addition to gaming, HAGO incorporates social media elements that enhance communication. For instance, during 1 vs 1 matches, you can activate voice chat to communicate with your opponent.

You can also follow other players and send private messages. If your HAGO account is linked to Facebook, you can see which of your Facebook friends are also HAGO members. This makes it easy to play two-player games with friends by simply adding each other on the platform.

There are two ways to play with others in HAGO. The first option is to directly select the game you want to play, and you'll be matched with a random opponent. In the settings, you can choose whether you want to be matched with male, female, or any player, which is why many people have found girlfriends through this game.

The second option allows you to open a chat room with a friend or any other user. After that, simply press the gamepad icon in the lower right corner and select the game you want to play. Your opponent just needs to accept the invitation, and you can start playing right away.

Among the 200 mini-games available, I particularly enjoy Blaster Shooter, Virus Breaker, Fruit Master, Tofu Tempeh, and Knife Hit. HAGO offers a wide variety of genres, including racing games, sports, and quizzes.

The app requires only a few hundred MB of storage at the start, but this size will increase as you play more games. Additionally, HAGO provides a party room feature for group voice or video calls, adding to the social experience.

Like HAGO, WePlay games also offer multiplayer experiences, but they have fewer options and focus more on party games rather than two-person games.

I’ve tried several games that feature interesting gameplay, such as Who's The Spy, Guess My Drawing, and Crazy Alpaca. Most games require at least four players, but some, like Draw and Guess and Mic Grab (karaoke), can be played with just two.

I had a lot of fun playing Who's The Spy with seven other random players. In this game, players are divided into two categories: villagers and a spy. All villagers receive the same keywords, while the spy is given different, but related, keywords.

All players must describe their keywords without mentioning them directly. The villager's task is to identify who the spy is based on the descriptions provided by others. You can also interact using chat or voice chat during the game.

Another game I tried was Guess My Drawing, where one player receives a noun (like "watermelon" or "Doraemon") and must draw it accurately. The other players then guess what it is based on the drawing.

Although WePlay has a smaller selection of games, I appreciate its matchmaking system. When selecting a game, you can join groups for players under 16 or over 16, which helps reduce the risk of grooming by strangers. However, parents should remain vigilant, as some adult players may falsely claim to be under 16.

When you start playing, you'll need to log in via Google, Facebook, or LINE. To play with a friend, you can create a game room by tapping "Game Room" -> "Create Room." From there, you can select the game mode, set the maximum number of players, define game conditions, and create a room password if desired.
