5 Best and Scariest Horror Games for Android
Getting bored of the usual games? Maybe it's time to try something different. How about playing horror games? In this post, I want to share some of the best horror games on Android that I’ve tried and found really scary in a good way.
These games are not just fun to play. The visuals and sounds in them can actually give you goosebumps. Some even have creepy and emotional stories that might make you hesitate to play alone at night.
1. Granny

Granny is one of the scariest Android games I’ve ever played. Not because of how it looks, but because of how intense and spooky it feels. The developer, DVloper, really knew how to build a terrifying atmosphere.
The sound of footsteps, objects falling, and sudden jump scares will make your heart race. The graphics are simple and not as smooth as modern games, but that doesn’t take away from the fear.
In the game, you wake up inside Granny’s house and must find a way to escape. You need to look for useful items like keys or tools to unlock doors. But it’s not easy, though.
Granny can hear almost everything, like footsteps, creaking doors, or dropped items. Once she hears you, she comes after you and knocks you out. Then, you wake up the next day and have to try again from the start.
You have to move fast and stay quiet. You can hide to avoid her, but that doesn’t always work. What I like is that the game lets you adjust many things, like how scary it is, how dark the house looks, or even how strong the jump scares are. You can also change the graphics setting, so it works well even on phones with lower specs.
Things I like about Granny:
- The horror feels real, even though the graphics are simple
- Granny reacts to sound, so you really need to be careful
- You can change the game’s difficulty, vibe, and visual quality
- There’s a Practice mode if you’re new or easily scared
- It runs well on many types of phones
Things to note:
- The graphics are basic
- Even in easy mode, the game is still quite challenging
2. Head Horse

Imagine this! You’re driving at night when suddenly your car has to stop. Another vehicle is blocking the road, so you step out to check. But just as you turn around, you get knocked out by a maniac wearing a horse head mask.
When you wake up, you’re trapped inside the house of that horse-headed psycho. You only have 5 days to find a way out. If you can’t escape by then, your life is in danger.
This game is similar to other horror puzzle games, but what makes it interesting is that the killer has different skins you can choose. These skins make the character even scarier to look at.
Why I like playing Head Horse:
- It’s quite a gory horror game
- There are several game levels to choose from, including Practice mode
- The killer has different skins, which makes him look even more terrifying
- You only get 5 days to escape, which makes the game feel tense and challenging
- The dark atmosphere really supports the horror
Things to note:
- The gameplay and some horror elements feel similar to Granny
- There are a lot of ads that might pop up during the game
3. Evil Nun: Horror at School

Evil Nun is another horror game I recommend. It’s a popular series, and this “Horror at School” version is quite intense. In the game, you have to escape from a haunted junior high school while being chased by a creepy nun named Madeline. To get out, you must solve several puzzles spread across the school.
You can use some weapons to fight Madeline. But if they don’t work, your best chance is to hide and stay quiet. What’s cool is that Madeline’s appearance can be customized. She can look like a robot, wear armor, or even dress in a royal costume, all with that same creepy vibe.
Why I like playing Evil Nun: Horror at School:
- The character Madeline is super creepy and well-designed
- The puzzles are fun but also a bit tricky, which makes the game exciting
- You can change Madeline’s appearance with different skins
What to keep in mind:
- If you don’t like chase scenes in horror games, this one might be too intense, even on easy mode
- Some of the puzzles take time and patience to solve
4. Ice Scream

What if the friendly ice cream seller in your neighborhood turned out to be hiding a dark secret? That’s the main idea behind Ice Scream. One day, you see a child from your neighborhood buying ice cream from a truck that usually stops nearby. But something strange happens.
The ice cream seller suddenly says a weird spell, and the child freezes in place. Then, he takes the frozen child into his truck and drives away. Your job is to save that child before it’s too late.
You’ll follow the truck around the city, stopping at different places to search for tools and items that can help you rescue the child. But be careful. The ice cream man, Rod, is always watching. If he catches you, you might end up like the other kids.
Although the game looks lighter and more colorful than other horror games, it still has scary moments. Especially when Rod suddenly appears and catches you. Even without any blood or gore, the jumpscares really got me a few times.
The controls are also smooth and easy to use. One thing I really like is the hint menu, which helps a lot when you get stuck on a puzzle.
Why I like playing Ice Scream:
- The visuals are brighter and less creepy, but still scary
- The jumpscares feel real and surprising
- The storyline is unique and includes short story scenes in each chapter
- The puzzles are fun and make you think
- There’s a helpful hint feature for when you’re stuck
- The graphics are easy on the eyes
One thing to note:
- For a free game, there are quite a lot of ads
5. Mr Meat

Not all horror games are about ghosts. In Mr Meat, you have to save a girl who’s been kidnapped by a butcher. But this butcher is not just any butcher, he’s a psychopath who hides her inside his creepy house.
To rescue the girl, you need to collect different tools and find secret paths through the house, all while avoiding Mr Meat. If he sees you, he will chase you down.
One thing that made the game feel exciting for me is the shotgun you get at the beginning. You can use it to open the front door and even shoot Mr Meat. If you hit him, he’ll be knocked out for a short time, which gives you a chance to keep searching.
There are different game modes too. You can play in Practice mode to get used to the game, or pick the harder levels where Mr Meat moves much faster. The house itself adds to the horror, with dark rooms and disturbing scenes of animals that were butchered. It really adds to the scary vibe.
One downside is that there are no graphic settings in this game. So, if you’re using a phone with lower specs, it might not run very well.
Hal yang saya sukai dari Mr Meat:
- The horror elements in the house are unique and intense
- You can choose the difficulty level that suits you
- There’s a Ghost mode where Mr Meat can’t see you (perfect for beginners)
- The gameplay includes shooting, which adds variety
Things to note:
- The game has quite a few ads
- Some players have experienced bugs
- There are no graphic settings, which may affect performance on low-end phones
These games will really test your courage and keep your heart racing. So, are you brave enough to try them all? Which one will you download first?
