10 Best MediaTek Processors (SoC) in 2025

MediaTek is one of the most popular smartphone chipset makers today. The company has several series, Dimensity for flagship and upper mid-range devices, Helio for mid-range phones, and older series that are still used in entry-level devices.

MediaTek chipsets are no longer something to look down on. They can now compete strongly with Snapdragon. In this article, we will look at the 10 best MediaTek chipsets you can find when buying a new smartphone.

When Apple launched the iPhone 17 series with the A19 and A19 Pro chips on September 9, 2025, other chip makers quickly followed. Qualcomm released their new chips on September 23 and 24, 2025. MediaTek was even faster. They introduced the Dimensity 9500 on September 22, 2025.

This chip became the top choice for flagship phones in 2025 and 2026. The first two devices that used it were the OPPO Find X9 and vivo X300.

On AnTuTu v10, the Dimensity 9500 scored around four million points, which is twice as high as the Dimensity 9400. On Geekbench 6, it scored 3,781 in single-core and 12,189 in multi-core.

The Dimensity 9500 uses an All-Big-Core design. It has one ARM Cortex-X5 core as the main strength, combined with Cortex-A7xx cores to handle heavy tasks. For graphics, it comes with the latest Immortalis GPU, which can run complex visuals smoothly.

MediaTek says this chip can give a new gaming experience. It includes second-generation hardware-based ray tracing for more realistic light and shadow effects. The latest MediaTek Imagiq processor also makes photos and videos look sharper with the help of advanced AI.

2. Dimensity 9400 Plus

Dimensity 9400+ features an All-Big-Core octa-core setup. It has one Cortex-X9 core with speeds up to 3.73 GHz, three Cortex-X4 cores, and four Cortex-A720 cores.

For graphics, it uses the Arm Immortalis-G925 MC12 GPU with 12 cores. It fully supports ray tracing and Opacity Micromaps (OMM) technology, which makes game details look better without lowering performance.

This chipset is built using TSMC’s newest process, which saves more power. It also supports UltraSave 4.0 for 5G modems and AI-based power control, making it more efficient. Even though it uses big cores, the temperature and battery use remain under control when running heavy apps.

On AnTuTu v10, the Dimensity 9400+ reached about 2.9 million points. On Geekbench 6, it scored around 2,945 in single-core and 9,184 in multi-core.

3. Dimensity 9400

Dimensity 9400 is a flagship chipset from MediaTek that was released in October 2024. It is built using TSMC’s 2nd generation 3nm process (N3E) and has an All-Big-Core CPU setup with one Cortex-X925 core, three Cortex-X4 cores, and four Cortex-A720 cores.

This chipset comes with advanced AI technology that improves the user experience in many apps. It also supports Wi-Fi 7 for faster wireless connections. For memory, the Dimensity 9400 supports LPDDR5X RAM with speeds of up to 10,667 Mbps. For storage, it uses UFS 4.0, which makes read and write speeds very fast.

Compared to the Dimensity 9300+, this chipset gives a 35 percent boost in single-core performance and a 28 percent boost in multi-core performance. It is also up to 40 percent more power efficient.

In benchmark results, the Dimensity 9400 scored 2,647,012 points in AnTuTu v10. On Geekbench 6, it reached 2,874 in single-core and 8,969 in multi-core.

4. Dimensity 9300 Plus

Dimensity 9300+ is made with TSMC’s 4nm process and is designed to save power while still delivering strong performance. It has an eight-core CPU with one Cortex-X4 core at 3.4 GHz, three Cortex-X4 cores at 2.85 GHz, and four Cortex-A720 cores at 2.0 GHz.

For graphics, it uses the Immortalis-G720 MC12 GPU, which can deliver sharp visuals and high frame rates, even in demanding games. This chipset also supports LPDDR5T RAM with speeds up to 8,533 Mbps and UFS 4.0 storage for fast data transfers.

One of its strengths is AI. The chipset comes with an APU 790, which supports advanced AI features like better image quality, face recognition, and instant translation.

In daily use, devices powered by the Dimensity 9300+, such as the vivo X100s and iQOO Neo 9S Pro, show strong performance. In benchmark tests, the vivo X100s with Dimensity 9300+ scored around 2.2 million points in AnTuTu v10. On Geekbench 6, it scored 2,213 in single-core and 7,243 in multi-core.

Compared to the standard Dimensity 9300, the 9300+ raises the clock speed of the top Cortex-X4 core from 3.25 GHz to 3.4 GHz. This upgrade helps improve performance and gives a smoother gaming experience.

5. Dimensity 9300

Dimensity 9300 was launched in November 2023. It has a unique CPU design with no efficiency cores. Instead, it uses eight performance-focused cores: four Cortex-X4 prime cores at 3.25 GHz and four Cortex-A720 cores at 2.0 GHz.

The CPU is supported by several key components, including the Immortalis-G720 MC12 GPU at 1.3 GHz, the MediaTek APU 790 AI processor, the Imagiq 990 ISP, a 5G modem, and the MiraVision 990 display driver. All of these are built using TSMC’s 4nm process.

This chipset also supports ray tracing and an AVI codec accelerator. With this design, MediaTek wanted to create a stronger chip than the Dimensity 9200 and compete directly with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

Still, the lack of efficiency cores could cause throttling. Throttling is when performance is reduced to keep the chip from overheating. In practice, this issue has not been serious.

In GSM Arena’s throttling test on the vivo X100 Pro, which runs on Dimensity 9300, performance only dropped to 73 percent of its peak. This was helped by the phone’s strong cooling system.

Other benchmark results also prove its strength. On Geekbench 6, the Dimensity 9300 scored 2,192 in single-core and 7,343 in multi-core. On AnTuTu v10, it reached 2,104,997 points.

According to MediaTek, the Dimensity 9300 delivers 40 percent higher multicore CPU performance and 33 percent better efficiency. Its GPU also improves by 46 percent in performance with 40 percent better efficiency.

6. Dimensity 9400e

Dimensity 9400e is a special version designed to bring flagship-level performance to a more affordable sub-premium price range. It is often called the “little brother” of the 9400 since it shares many of the same technologies but with some changes.

The CPU of the 9400e uses an All-Big-Core setup similar to the 9300+ series. It has one Cortex-X4 core at 3.4 GHz, three Cortex-X4 cores at 2.85 GHz, and four Cortex-A720 cores at 2.0 GHz.

This makes its performance very close to the 9300+, even though its name suggests it belongs to the 9400 family. The difference is that the 9400e does not use the newer Cortex-X9 but instead relies on the Cortex-X4. Even so, all of its cores are still high-performance ARMv9 big cores.

For graphics, the 9400e comes with the Arm Immortalis-G720 MC12 GPU with 12 cores. This GPU was MediaTek’s 2024 flagship and supports ray tracing. In terms of graphics, the 9400e is only slightly behind the 9400 and 9400+, which use the newer G925 GPU.

The biggest strengths of the 9400e are its efficiency and lower cost. It is made with TSMC’s third-generation 4nm process, which is very efficient and more stable compared to the first 3nm process. MediaTek even claims the 9400e can beat the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in both performance and efficiency.

In benchmarks, the Dimensity 9400e scored around 2.15 million points on AnTuTu v10. On Geekbench 6, it reached 2,322 in single-core and 7,777 in multi-core. These results are slightly higher than Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 (2,300/7,421) and Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 (2,229/7,303).

7. Dimensity 8450

Dimensity 8450 is part of MediaTek’s 8000 series and was released in mid-2025. It is called a premium mid-range chipset but uses an All-Big-Core CPU design, which is usually found in higher series.

Unlike older models that still used small cores, the Dimensity 8450 comes with eight Cortex-A725 cores. The setup includes one A725 core with 1MB L2 cache as the prime core, three A725 cores with 512KB L2 cache, and four A725 cores with 256KB L2 cache.

Because all cores use the new ARMv9 architecture, the multi-core performance of this chipset has improved a lot. MediaTek says the Dimensity 8450 is 41 percent faster than the Dimensity 8400 in multi-core tasks, while also being 44 percent more efficient in power use.

For graphics, it has the Arm Mali-G720 MC7 GPU with seven cores. Even though it is a mid-range GPU, it can still handle heavy games at high resolutions with medium to high settings.

This chipset also comes with HyperEngine 3.0 Adaptive Gaming Technology. This feature makes touch response faster and manages networks better during games. MediaTek claims it can boost gaming performance by up to 24 percent compared to the previous generation.

In benchmarks, the Dimensity 8450 scored around 1.67 million points on AnTuTu v10, slightly higher than the Dimensity 8400. On Geekbench 6, its multi-core score is estimated at about 7,400, which is 20 percent higher than the 8400.

8. Dimensity 8400

Dimensity 8400 was released in December 2024. It also uses an All-Big-Core CPU setup, which means all eight cores are high-performance Cortex-A725 cores.

The setup includes one main core at 3.25 GHz, three cores at 3.0 GHz, and four cores at 2.1 GHz. This design increases multi-core performance by up to 41 percent compared to the Dimensity 8300.

Even with higher performance, the Dimensity 8400 is still efficient. It is claimed to reduce power use by up to 44 percent compared to the 8300.

For connectivity, it has a 5G-A modem that supports up to 3CC-CA with download speeds of up to 5.17 Gbps. It also comes with NOS technology for smarter and more efficient switching between 5G and Wi-Fi. In addition, this chipset supports WQHD+ displays with refresh rates up to 144 Hz, LPDDR5X RAM, and UFS 4.0 storage.

In benchmark tests, the Dimensity 8400 scored 1,623,874 points on AnTuTu v10. On Geekbench 6, it scored 1,571 in single-core and 6,033 in multi-core.

9. Dimensity 9200 Plus

Dimensity 9200+ is an upgraded version of the Dimensity 9200 with higher clock speeds. Its CPU uses a big.LITTLE design with one Cortex-X3 core running up to 3.35 GHz, three Cortex-A715 cores at about 3.0 GHz, and four Cortex-A510 efficiency cores at around 2.0 GHz.

Compared to the regular 9200, which has the Cortex-X3 at 3.05 GHz, the Plus version increases the speed by about 10 percent and slightly adjusts the other cores.

For graphics, it still uses the Mali-G715 Immortalis MC11 GPU with 11 cores, likely running at a higher clock. This GPU can handle graphics close to flagship levels in 2022 and 2023. The Dimensity 9200+ also supports advanced features such as hardware ray tracing, 240 Hz displays, and the Imagiq 890 ISP, which can handle cameras up to 320 MP.

The chipset is built on TSMC’s first generation 4nm process (N4), the same process used by Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. While not the newest, this 4nm process is known to be efficient and cool.

In benchmark tests, the Dimensity 9200+ scored around 1.48 million points on AnTuTu v10, slightly higher than the regular 9200. On Geekbench 6, it reached about 2,100 points in single-core and 5,600 points in multi-core.

10. Dimensity 9200

Dimensity 9200 was MediaTek’s flagship chipset in late 2022. It started the 9000 series and set a strong foundation for future models. Even though newer versions are now available, the Dimensity 9200 is still one of MediaTek’s best chips.

The CPU has a 1+3+4 setup with one Cortex-X3 core at 3.05 GHz, three Cortex-A715 cores at 2.85 GHz, and four Cortex-A510 cores at 1.8 GHz. At launch, it was the first Android chipset to use Cortex-X3 and Cortex-A715 cores, part of the second generation ARMv9 design.

On the graphics side, it comes with the Arm Mali-G715 Immortalis MC11 GPU with 11 cores and hardware ray tracing. This was a big step forward for MediaTek, bringing its graphics closer to rivals at the time.

Other features include the APU 690 for AI, LPDDR5X RAM support, UFS 4.0 storage, and a complete 5G Release-16 modem. These made it a true flagship SoC when it was released.

The Dimensity 9200 is also built on TSMC’s efficient 4nm (N4) process. That said, it can offer both strong performance and good battery life. Many reviewers even said it was more efficient than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.

From the list above, you can see that MediaTek chipsets come in different tiers with different strengths. They are made for different needs and prices, not to fight each other.
