5 Chipsets Similar to MediaTek Dimensity 7400

Written by Ganjar Maulana

MediaTek Dimensity 7400 is an upper mid-range chipset with fast performance and complete features. This 5G chipset comes with an octa-core CPU (4 Cortex A78 up to 2.6 GHz + 4 Cortex A55) and a Mali G615 MC2 GPU.

The chipset is also built with an efficient 4 nm process. Because of this, the Dimensity 7400 gives fast performance and high power efficiency. It is even claimed to be 25 percent more power efficient than its competitors.

So what chipsets are similar to the Dimensity 7400 from other brands or series? Here are some alternatives with performance that is not much different.

1. MediaTek Dimensity 7350

MediaTek Dimensity 7350 sits just below the 7400. It focuses on balance between performance and efficiency. This octa-core chipset uses the new Armv9 Gen 2 design with 2 Cortex A715 performance cores (up to 3.0 GHz) and 6 Cortex A510 efficiency cores (2.0 GHz).

The 2+6 setup is different from the 4+4 setup in the Dimensity 7400, but the high speed of the A715 makes single-core performance of the Dimensity 7350 very strong.

For graphics, the Dimensity 7350 has a Mali G610 MC4 GPU. This is a mid-range GPU that can run popular games on mid to high settings without problems. It also supports MediaTek HyperEngine 5.0 gaming features for stable frame rates.

In benchmark tests, the Dimensity 7350 shows good results. Geekbench 6 records about 1195 points for single-core and 2622 points for multi-core. On AnTuTu v10, the score is around 770 thousand points.

From these results, it is clear that the Dimensity 7350 can give the same smooth daily use and gaming experience as the Dimensity 7400.

2. Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 4

Snapdragon 6 Gen 4

Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 is a mid-range 5G chipset that is similar to the Dimensity 7400 in both features and performance. The chipset has an ARMv9-based octa-core CPU with a 1+3+4 setup. It uses 1 Cortex A720 Prime core at 2.3 GHz, 3 Cortex A720 performance cores at 2.2 GHz, and 4 Cortex A520 efficiency cores at 1.8 GHz.

This setup can be seen equal to the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3, with only a small drop in speed for the A720 cores. With the new Cortex A720 and A520 design plus the 4 nm TSMC process, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 is very efficient in power use and still powerful.

For graphics, the chip has an Adreno 810 GPU that can handle modern games well. Even though the Adreno 810 is not a top-class GPU, Qualcomm’s optimization makes it competitive with the Mali G615 in the Dimensity 7400.

The Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 also supports Qualcomm features like mmWave 5G and advanced 12-bit triple ISP for photos. These features give extra value compared to some chipsets in the Dimensity line.

3. Samsung Exynos 1480

exynos 1480

Samsung Exynos 1480 is a chipset made by Samsung and is used in Galaxy A series phones like the Galaxy A55. Exynos 1480 uses an octa-core CPU with 4 fast Cortex A78 cores up to 2.75 GHz and 4 power-saving Cortex A55 cores up to 2.05 GHz.

The special thing about the Exynos 1480 is its GPU. Samsung uses the AMD RDNA 2 Xclipse 530 GPU instead of Mali. This GPU was made with AMD, similar to the flagship Exynos 2200 but with fewer units.

Because of this, the graphics of the Exynos 1480 are much better than its predecessor Exynos 1380 that used Mali G68. Samsung claims about 31 percent better GPU performance.

This chipset is made with Samsung's 4LPP 4 nm process. Before, Samsung 4 nm was less efficient compared to TSMC 4 nm. But in this new Exynos, the temperature is more stable and does not slow down too much under normal use.

4. MediaTek Dimensity 7300

Motorola Edge 60 Fusion

MediaTek Dimensity 7300 is the predecessor of the Dimensity 7400. At first glance, the specifications look very similar. It has an octa-core CPU with 4 Cortex A78 at 2.5 GHz and 4 Cortex A55, plus a Mali G615 MC2 GPU.

The difference is not much different. The A78 cores in the Dimensity 7300 run at 2.5 GHz while in the Dimensity 7400 they run at 2.6 GHz. It also uses the same HyperEngine and NPU as the Dimensity 7400.

On paper, the Dimensity 7300 is only about 10 percent weaker than the Dimensity 7400. This is in line with MediaTek’s claim that the Dimensity 7400 is about 10 percent faster than the older generation.

The benchmark results also show this. The Dimensity 7300 (or 7300X) got around 1047 single-core and 2973 multi-core on Geekbench 6, which is only about 5 percent below the Dimensity 7400. On AnTuTu v10, the score is between 700 to 730 thousand points, which is still strong in the mid-range class.

5. Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3

snapdragon 7s gen 3

Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 is also one of the main competitors of the Dimensity 7400. This chipset was launched in late 2024 as a smaller version of the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3, but its performance is close to the Dimensity 7400.

The Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 has the same CPU setup as the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4. It uses 1 Cortex A720 Prime at 2.5 GHz, 3 Cortex A720 at 2.4 GHz, and 4 Cortex A520 at 1.8 GHz. Both are made with TSMC 4 nm process.

The main difference from the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 is the slightly higher clock speed, which makes the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 a bit stronger. The GPU is the same Adreno 810 but with support for Snapdragon Elite Gaming and other extra features.

In terms of CPU, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 is very close to the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3, only the GPU is not as powerful. Still, the Adreno 810 can deliver smooth gaming at Full HD resolution with Qualcomm’s good efficiency and strong connectivity.

When looking at performance, the difference between the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 and the Dimensity 7400 is very small. Both can run heavy apps, multitask without lag, and play popular games at high settings with stable frame rates.

From the explanation above, we can see that the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 has several strong rivals. In general, all the chipsets listed here can deliver daily use and gaming performance that feels almost the same as the Dimensity 7400.

I hope this article gives you a clearer idea of chipsets equal to the Dimensity 7400, so you can choose your next smartphone with more confidence!
