5 Chipsets Similar to Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5
One of the most powerful chipsets in flagship phones at the end of 2025 and early 2026 is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. This chipset, also known as a chip or SoC (System on Chip), is made by Qualcomm and is based on the third-generation Oryon architecture. Qualcomm claims it is the fastest mobile chip in the world.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 uses a 2+6 CPU setup. It has two main cores (Prime Cores) that can reach speeds of up to 4.6 GHz, and six performance cores that go up to 3.62 GHz. Qualcomm says this setup gives a 20% boost in CPU performance compared to the previous Snapdragon 8 Elite.
On the graphics side, the new Qualcomm Adreno GPU brings up to 23% better performance. This makes the chip great for playing heavy games or running apps that require strong graphics. Its AI features are also more advanced than before.
Of course, we need numbers to prove how fast this chip really is. One way to check is by using benchmark apps like AnTuTu and Geekbench, which are commonly used in the tech world.
For example, the Xiaomi 17 Pro using this chip got an AnTuTu v11 score of 3.7 million. The Xiaomi 17 Pro Max did even better with a score of 4.3 million. On AnTuTu v10, the score was around 3.7 million.
In Geekbench, the Xiaomi 17 Pro scored 3,096 for single-core and 9,382 for multi-core. The Xiaomi 17 Pro Max scored 3,812 for single-core and 11,993 for multi-core.
Most phones that use this chipset will have similar scores. So, are there other chipsets that can match or come close to this level? Let’s take a look at some of them below.
1. Apple A19 Pro

Apple launched the iPhone 17 series in September 2025. The A19 Pro chip powers the iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and iPhone 17 Air. This chip is Apple’s answer to the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
Built using TSMC’s 3nm N3P process, the A19 Pro fits in more transistors to deliver faster performance with better power efficiency.
The CPU has six cores that focus on speed and battery life. The biggest upgrade is the new 6-core GPU, where each core now has a special accelerator that helps with AI-powered graphics.
Apple also added 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM to support the system. It comes with a 16-core Neural Engine for handling AI tasks. This engine can also process large amounts of data from the 48 MP camera sensor in real time to create high-quality photos.
So, how does the A19 Pro perform? Based on tests by Tom’s Guide, the iPhone 17 Pro scored 3,834 (single-core) and 9,988 (multi-core) on Geekbench 6. Another result showed the device scoring 3,871 (single-core) and 9,968 (multi-core).
These results show that the A19 Pro performs at the same level as the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in both single-core and multi-core tests.
What about AnTuTu scores? According to PCMag, the A19 Pro scores between 2 to 2.5 million on AnTuTu. However, keep in mind that iOS and Android scores can't be directly compared, because the platforms are different. That’s why many people use Geekbench for a fairer comparison between iPhones and Android phones.
2. Dimensity 9500

The MediaTek Dimensity 9500 is one of the strongest competitors to the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. Many top-tier Android phones also use this chip. It is built using TSMC’s second-generation 3nm process, which helps improve power efficiency and AI performance.
Several flagship phones released between late 2025 and 2026 are powered by this chipset. Some of the first phones to use it include the OPPO Find X9 and vivo X300.
This chip uses an All-Big-Core CPU setup. It includes powerful ARM Cortex-X5 cores and the new ARM Immortalis GPU, which together deliver very fast performance.
One of the biggest upgrades is in the AI Processing Unit (APU). It is designed to run generative AI models, like large language models (LLMs), directly on the device. This makes AI tasks faster and more private.
For gaming, the Immortalis GPU supports second-generation hardware-based ray tracing to give more realistic lighting effects. It also uses MediaTek’s latest Imagiq image processor to improve photo and video quality.
Based on many sources, the Dimensity 9500 has very strong benchmark results. On AnTuTu v11, the chip scored 4,011,932 points. On Geekbench 6, it scored 4,007 for single-core and 11,217 for multi-core.
These scores are slightly higher than the ones achieved by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. This shows that the Dimensity 9500 is a powerful chip and a real rival to Qualcomm’s top chip.
3. Snapdragon 8 Elite (Gen 4)

The Snapdragon 8 Elite, also known as Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, is the previous version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. It replaced the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and brought big improvements in speed and battery efficiency with TSMC’s 3nm technology.
This chip is the foundation of the Gen 5 version. It offers both high performance and better power use. It includes six performance cores that can run at up to 3.53 GHz. The chip also has the Adreno 830 GPU, which delivers great graphics and supports features like advanced ray tracing for a more realistic gaming experience.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite was used in many top Android phones released in late 2024 and 2025. Benchmarks show that it performs very well, although not as fast as the newer Gen 5 version.
In AnTuTu v11, the chip reached a score of around 3.2 million. On Geekbench 6, it scored 3,155 for single-core and 9,723 for multi-core. While these numbers are slightly lower than those from Gen 5, the difference is not too far apart.
4. MediaTek Dimensity 9400 Plus

Released in April 2025, MediaTek Dimensity 9400 Plus is a high-end chipset made using TSMC’s 3nm N3E process. This chip focuses on power efficiency while still having strong performance. It uses an all big-core design, meaning there are no low-power cores. All of its CPU cores are made for performance.
Inside, the chip has eight CPU cores. These include one Cortex-X925 core at 3.73 GHz, three Cortex-X4 cores at 3.3 GHz, and four Cortex-A720 cores at 2.4 GHz.
For graphics, it uses a 12-core Immortalis-G925 GPU. This GPU supports hardware-based ray tracing and features like Opacity Micromap (OMM), which helps improve image details without slowing down the system.
In terms of AI, the chip has MediaTek’s 8th Gen 890 APU, which is capable of running large language models (LLMs) directly on the device. It also supports faster token prediction using Speculative Decoding+, which makes AI tasks more responsive.
The Dimensity 9400 Plus also comes with powerful connectivity features. These include Bluetooth 6 with a long range of up to 10 kilometers, tri-band Wi-Fi 7, and BeiDou navigation that locks onto signals 33% faster. It can also support three screen outputs at once, which is useful for foldable devices.
This chip is used in phones like the vivo X200s 5G and Xiaomi 15T Pro. In performance tests, it scored around 2.6 million on AnTuTu v11. On Geekbench 6, it got about 2,927 for single-core and 9,000 for multi-core.
Although the numbers are slightly lower than the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, the Dimensity 9400 Plus still delivers strong performance and can be considered a close competitor.
5. Apple A19

Another chip that can compete with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is the Apple A19. This chip is a part of the same family as the A19 Pro, but it is used in the regular iPhone 17 instead of the Pro models like the iPhone 17 Pro or iPhone 17 Air.
Surprisingly, the iPhone 17 with the A19 chip shows excellent performance in benchmark tests. In some cases, it even performs better than the iPhone Air, which uses the A19 Pro. This is likely because the A19 Pro chip in the iPhone Air has fewer cores compared to the one in the iPhone 17 Pro.
