How to Delete Google Account on Xiaomi & POCO Phone

Many smartphone users link multiple Google accounts to their devices for various reasons. I’m one of them. I use multiple Google accounts on my Xiaomi phone because each serves a different purpose, such as work, personal use, or other needs.

Don’t worry, though! These Google accounts can still be removed from your Xiaomi phone. If you get a new phone or switch devices, you can continue using the same Google account on your new Xiaomi device.

So, how do you remove a Google account? Let’s dive into some easy ways to delete a Google account from Xiaomi & POCO phones below!

1. Delete Google Account Through Settings

The first method to remove a Google account is through the Settings app. This is the easiest way since it doesn’t require any additional apps. Follow these steps:

1. First, open the Settings app.
2. Next, select Additional settings.
3. Scroll down and tap Accounts & sync.
4. Since you want to remove a Google account, select the Google option to proceed.

Here, you'll see a list of Google accounts linked to your Xiaomi phone. Select the account you want to remove.

Next, tap the three-dot menu at the bottom labeled “More”. To proceed, select Remove account, then confirm by tapping Remove account once again.

Important: Before removing the account, make sure to sync your data by selecting Sync now.

This ensures that all your data and settings are safely stored in your Google account. That way, if you log into another device with the same account, you won’t lose any important information.

2. Delete Google Account Through Gmail App

Besides removing a Google account through the Settings app, you can also do it via the Gmail app. Gmail is a pre-installed Google app on most Xiaomi devices. Here’s how to remove your account using Gmail:

First, open the Gmail app and tap the three-line menu in the top-left corner. Next, select Settings to access the app’s settings.

You’ll see a list of Google accounts linked to your Xiaomi phone. Ignore the listed accounts and tap the three-dot menu in the top-right corner.

Next, tap Manage accounts from the three-dot menu. Before proceeding, it's a good idea to sync your data by selecting Sync now to ensure no important information is lost.

Once the sync is complete, select Google to continue. You’ll see a list of Google accounts linked to your Xiaomi phone.

From here, follow the same steps as in the first method. Select the Google account you want to remove. Tap More (three-dot menu). Choose Remove account and confirm the removal.

3. Delete Google Account via Factory Reset

Another way to remove a Google account from your Xiaomi phone is by performing a factory reset. However, unlike the previous methods, this will erase everything on your device including accounts, apps, media, and other data.

A factory reset restores your phone to its original state, just like when you first bought it. This method is best if you’re planning to sell or give away your Xiaomi device.

If you still want to proceed, follow these steps:

1. Go to the Settings app and select My device.
2. Next, tap Factory reset.
3. Then, choose Erase all data and confirm each warning that appears.

Keep in mind that this step will delete all data on your Xiaomi phone, including your Google account, apps, and media files. Make sure to back up your important data beforehand so you can restore it later if needed.

4. Delete Google Account Permanently on Xiaomi Phone

Besides removing a Google account from your Xiaomi phone, you can also permanently delete your Google account. This means the deleted account cannot be recovered or used again.

If you understand the consequences and still want to proceed, follow these steps:

1. Open the Settings app.
2. Select Google.
3. Then, choose the Google account you want to delete.
4. Next, tap Manage your Google Account to enter the Google Account settings page.

After successfully accessing the Google Account page, go to the Data & privacy section. Scroll down until you find the Delete your Google Account option, then select it. If you have enabled a phone password, you will be required to enter it.

Once verified, you have the option to download your Google account data beforehand by selecting Download your data.

Before proceeding, carefully read the provided information, as deleting your account is a significant action. If you're sure, check both approval boxes and click the Delete Account button.

If the process is successful, your Google account will be permanently deleted. However, you can still recover it within 30 days. After this period, the account will be permanently lost and cannot be restored.

Those are some methods to delete a Google account on a Xiaomi phone. The first and second methods are the safest, as they allow you to remove the account from your phone while keeping it accessible on other devices.
