How to Expand RAM Capacity on Infinix Phones
Many of you might have experienced a decrease in performance with your mobile phones, including Infinix models. Common signs of this performance drop are frequent lags, reduced speed, and apps that often crash or close unexpectedly.
A common reason for these issues is the RAM on your Infinix phone being overused, especially if the phone has a limited amount of RAM to begin with, making such problems more likely.
In this article, I'll provide a straightforward method to enhance the RAM on Infinix devices. Furthermore, I'll show you how to manage RAM usage using the developer options feature. If you're interested, please continue reading.
Increasing RAM Using MemFusion Feature
Memory Fusion, also known as MemFusion, is a feature integrated into Infinix's XOS interface. If you ever find the RAM capacity on your Infinix phone insufficient, this feature can come in handy.
Essentially, it functions by allocating a portion of your phone's internal storage to act as virtual RAM. Curious about how to activate it? Please follow the steps provided below.

- First, go to Settings either through the app or by swiping down the notification bar.
- Next, scroll down and select the Storage menu.
- Then, choose the MemFusion option to increase your RAM capacity.
- Toggle the switch next to MemFusion to turn it on (the switch will turn green).
By default, the added RAM capacity is set to 1 GB. However, you can customize it by selecting the "Set virtual RAM" option. You can choose a capacity of 1 GB, 2 GB, or 3 GB.
Once the changes are saved, restart your Infinix device to apply the updates. Your RAM will automatically increase.
Optimizing RAM Performance
In addition to expanding RAM capacity, another method to boost your phone's performance is through developer options. By utilizing these options, you can restrict background processes, allowing the RAM to function more efficiently.
While this approach doesn't actually increase the RAM capacity of your Infinix phone, it helps free up occupied RAM caused by numerous background applications. As a result, your RAM operates more effectively, reducing instances of lag or system slowdowns.
Before going into the process optimization, you must first activate the developer options on your phone. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to do it:
1. Enable Developer Options

First, you need to enable the Developer Options feature. To do this, go to Settings either through the app or by swiping down the notification bar. Next, select the My phone menu at the top of the screen.
Tap the Build number option several times (about seven taps) until you see a message confirming that you are now a developer. You can now see a new menu called Developer Options will appear in the settings.
2. Turn off Background Process Limit

After successfully enabling Developer Options, return to the Settings home page and scroll down to select System. Next, choose the Developer options menu that now appears at the bottom.
In the Developer Options, there will be a variety of menus to choose from. You can ignore most of them and scroll down to the APPS section.
Then, select Background process limit. Finally, choose No background processes to limit the background processes of an app.
This is how you can increase and optimize RAM performance on your Infinix device. By following these steps, you can maintain your phone's RAM capacity and ensure stable performance, avoiding issues like lag or slowdowns.
For reference, the Infinix device used in this article is the Infinix HOT 12i, but these methods can also be applied to other Infinix models, as the steps will be quite similar. Good luck!
