15 Best Battle Royale Games Like PUBG

Written by Jihan Fauziah

PUBG, also known as PlayerUnknown's BattleGround, is a familiar name to many gaming enthusiasts. Originally available via Steam, the popularity of this game increased after making its way to Android and iOS app stores as PUBG Mobile.

PUBG initially debuted as an early access beta on Steam, prior to its official full release. Following this, the Android and iOS versions were officially launched, setting records as the top-grossing game of all time, with sales skyrocketing to fifty million per month by June 2018.

The success of PUBG inspired game developers to release similar battle royale games. So, if you're interested in games that mirror the concept of PUBG Mobile, there are various alternatives available on Android devices that you might consider exploring.

1. Garena Free Fire – Rampage

Garena Free Fire – Rampage

Garena Free Fire - Rampage is another exciting game from the house of Garena, the company behind popular titles like Point Blank and Arena of Valor. This particular game in the Garena Free Fire series can host up to 49 players in a single session.

The game provides around 10 minutes for players to clinch a win. Plus, it features a squad mode that allows four players in one team.

A standout feature of this game is its death race mode. This allows a team of two players to collaborate and use available vehicles to avoid enemies. If this piques your interest, you can download the game from the Google PlayStore.

2. ScarFall: The Royale Combat

scarfall_

ScarFall is a PUBG-like game that features three different game modes, including a classic mode. In this particular mode, you'll engage in gameplay with over 30 other players as part of a four-member team.

Your primary goal, similar to PUBG, is to be the final player or team standing while maintaining your position within the safe zone. A unique aspect of ScarFall is that it allows players to respawn up to three times within the 10-minute gameplay duration.

The Carisinyal team conducted a trial run of the game with default graphic settings on a mid-tier smartphone, and the game performed seamlessly. It should be noted that while the graphics might not match the quality of PUBG, the game nonetheless offers an enjoyable experience.

As for controls, they are quite similar to those of PUBG, so frequent players of PUBG will find the transition relatively smooth.

3. Zooba

zooba__1

Zooba is a battle royale game with similarities to PUBG, but it distinguishes itself with its adorable animal characters, one of which is Nix the Fox. The objective remains the same – be one of the 20 surviving players at the end of the game.

Players have access to a variety of weapons, including bombs, crossbows, and shotguns. The optimal use of these weapons is crucial to hide from enemies.

Typical of battle royale games, the play area gradually shrinks, compelling players to fight off enemies while avoiding the surrounding flames. The game also offers hiding spots in bushes for strategic gameplay.

Despite its appealing graphics, the game doesn't perform smoothly on mid-range smartphones. Our team conducted tests using flat graphic settings but encountered frequent lag. However, after reducing the settings and FPS to medium and 45 FPS respectively, the game performance improved significantly.

Zooba also features character upgrades that enhance damage, movement speed, and health. Furthermore, players can unlock new characters upon reaching specific levels.

4. Magica.io

magica.io_

Looking for a distinctive take on the battle royale genre? Try Magica.io, a game where your weaponry is magic. Harness the power of fire, water, or even earth to strike down your opponents.

The controls are simple, with one control for movement and another for attacks. The goal remains consistent with the genre – defeat your rivals and be the final player standing. Aggressively confront enemies to earn special powers.

Remember to recharge your Hit Point (HP) and gain extra moves from the trainer. However, be aware that to receive free HP and these moves, you'll need to watch advertisements. The same applies to respawns. Each level in this game comprises three stages.

Magica.io also includes daily missions, such as eliminating a certain number of enemies. Successful completion of these missions will earn you rewards.

Graphically, the game bears a resemblance to Zooba. Our gameplay experience was smooth and free of any glitches.

5. Farlight 84

Farlight 84 might be an ideal choice if you're seeking a PUBG-like experience but in a different context. Set in a futuristic world, Farlight 84 equips you with lots of advanced weapons, including armored vehicles, and even allows for navigation via motorcycles and jetpacks.

The game offers several modes, including the traditional battle royale mode. During our trial, we joined forces with three other players to outwit dozens of enemies.

Among the game's standout features are its unique weapon collection, user-friendly controls, and impressive graphics. In the battle royale mode, you'll have two diverse maps to explore.

You can choose your characters as desired, and new characters and weapons become available as you complete missions and reach certain levels. Additional game modes unlock once you reach level 3 or higher.

For your reference, our team tested the game using HD graphics settings and high frame rates on a mid-tier smartphone, and the game operated smoothly. Prior to playing, make sure you have a stable internet connection and sufficient internal storage capacity on your phone.

6. Huntzone: Battle Ground Royale

Our team also gave Huntzone: Battle Ground Royale a go. While the game's graphical presentation may not be spectacular, we found it enjoyable nonetheless, especially given its expansive map filled with numerous areas to explore. We engaged with dozens of international players during our 20-minute gaming session.

Unfortunately, we don't find the collection of weapons in this game interesting. It felt rather basic, and opponents could be defeated with just one or two shots, resulting in a less challenging and thrilling gameplay experience. Additionally, the game often experienced bugs during gameplay.

In terms of controls, we could say it's pretty good even though there are no special auto-run controls. Interestingly, the shooting control allows you to choose between auto or manual modes.

One intriguing feature emerges as the map begins to shrink – you'll encounter zombies. Successfully eliminating these zombies usually yields gemstones, but these kills don't contribute to your overall kill count.

Huntzone is a free-to-play game, but it is ad-heavy. If the advertisements prove bothersome, you might consider opting for the ad-free version.

7. Battle Royale: FPS Shooter

Battle Royale: FPS Shooter resembles Pixel's Unknown Battlegrounds, and what sets it apart is its challenging loot system.

In Battle Royale: FPS Shooter, finding high-end weapons such as AKs, pistols, or axes isn't straightforward. Players must compete with over 15 others to get these weapons, adding a competitive edge to the game.

The game's map is fairly extensive. Additionally, you can customize your shooting mode preference between auto or manual. The graphics settings can be adjusted according to the specifications of your device.

Advertisements are included within the game, and it also offers a range of skins for purchase. Some of these skins require real-world money, while others can be bought with in-game currency.

8. Call of Duty: Mobile

Call of Duty Mobile

Call of Duty: Mobile's latest update brings a number of interesting features. Notably, seven new zones have been introduced to the Battle Royale (BR) map, including Black Market, Downtown, Sanitarium, Ski Town, Frigid Wetlands, Harbor, and Heat.

Another highlight is the introduction of the New Battle Pass: Radioactive Agents and a new multiplayer map, Tunisia. This seaside town is available for Search & Destroy (S&D), Domination (DOM), and the fresh mode, Attack of the Undead. Furthermore, it features the Gulag, a popular map from CoD: Modern Warfare, available for 1v1 Duel and Gunfight modes.

An additional feature is the new multiplayer mode, Attack of the Undead. In this mode, all players initially begin as survivors, but one will turn into an undead entity as the game progresses.

In addition to Rules of Survival (RoS), NetEase.Inc has also introduced another PUBG-inspired game, Knives Out. This game puts you against 100 other players on a large battlefield.

This game requires all players to explore buildings in order to locate a variety of weapons and medical supplies. Much like its PUBG counterparts, Knives Out allows players to use military trucks for in-game transportation.

Despite its high-quality graphics, Knives Out ensures a smooth gaming experience, making it a standout among PUBG-style games available on Android. Interested in giving it a go?
