3 Easy Ways to Restart an itel Smartphone

Written by Ananda Ganesha M

Many cellphone users might wonder how to restart their phones. The good news is that it's actually very simple, and there are several ways to do it.

Restarting your phone can help restore its performance, especially if it's been running all day doing heavy tasks. It can also fix common problems like Wi-Fi not turning on, losing signal, fast-draining battery, and more.

Usually, restarting a phone is as easy as pressing the physical power button on the side, but what if that doesn’t work? In this article, we’ll go over different ways to restart any itel phone. For this tutorial, I'll be using the itel RS4 as an example.

Using the Power Button

If your power button works fine, you can use it to turn off and restart your phone. Here’s how:

1. Understand the Power Button Functions

One of the things the power button can do is bring up the voice assistant feature

Did you know the power button on your phone does more than just restart it? It has several other features as well. For example, the power button on my phone serves four different purposes.

First, a single press locks the screen. It also doubles as a fingerprint sensor, allowing me to unlock the phone by simply placing my finger on it.

Next, if you press and hold the button for a few seconds, it activates the voice assistant. And if you press it even longer, you’ll see the option to turn off or restart your phone.

2. Press and Hold the Power Button

Next, place your right thumb on the power button and press it for a few seconds. When the voice assistant pops up, don't lift your finger. Keep holding the button until the option to restart your phone appears.

3. Select the "Restart" Option

After holding down the power button, a screen with three options will show up: "Power Off" (shut down), "Restart" (shut down and restart), and "SOS" (to call emergency services like police, fire, or ambulance).

Tap on "Restart" to turn off your phone and have it restart automatically. To make sure you didn't select the wrong option, the screen will ask you to confirm. Tap on "Tap to Restart" again.

Once your phone has restarted successfully, you'll be prompted to enter your pattern or password. You can't skip this step using the fingerprint sensor or face unlock. Entering your password is required every time you restart or turn on your phone from a powered-off state.

2. Using the “Accessibility” Feature

You can restart your phone without using the physical power button, which is super handy if your button is broken or if you find it difficult to hold the button down, like for elderly users.

Restarting without the power button is done through the Accessibility feature. While it’s easy to use, setting it up does take a few extra steps. Here’s how:

1. Open the “Special Function” Menu

Start by opening the Settings menu. You’ll usually find this icon on your home screen, but if it’s not there, swipe up to open the App Drawer and type “Settings” in the search bar. Once in Settings, scroll down and find the Special Functions menu. Tap on it.

2. Enable the “Accessibility Menu” Shortcut

In the Special Functions menu, scroll to the bottom until you see the Accessibility option. Tap on it, then select the Accessibility Menu.

Next, turn on the Accessibility Menu Shortcut by sliding the white circle to the right and pressing “Allow.” A green shortcut will appear on your screen to quickly access the accessibility menu.

3. Tap the “Accessibility” Shortcut

Now, tap on the green Accessibility icon, which will stay visible on your screen no matter what app you’re using.

Once the Accessibility menu opens, you’ll see several options, like adjusting the volume, screen brightness, locking the screen, and accessing the power settings.

Select the Power menu, and you’ll see the options for Power off, Restart, and SOS. Tap “Restart,” then confirm by tapping "Tap to Restart." That’s it! Your phone will restart without needing to press the power button.

3. Using Third-Party Applications

Besides the methods mentioned earlier, you can also restart your phone using apps available on the Play Store. One app we recommend is Shutdown (No Root) by the developer samiadom.

You can download and install this app for free. Once opened, the app displays a menu similar to what you see when you press the power button.

Since the app doesn’t have any extra features, it won’t slow down your phone. For quick access, we suggest placing the app’s shortcut on your home screen.

That’s how you can restart your itel phone. Keep in mind that while this method works for most phones, the navigation and menu locations might vary depending on your device. But in general, the steps are quite similar. Good luck!
