Originally known as Spreadtrum Communications Inc., the company released several notable chipsets under the Spreadtrum brand, such as the SC7735S used in the Samsung Galaxy Core II and the SC9832E found in the Advan G5 Elite.
Over time, Spreadtrum underwent several corporate restructurings. The latest significant change occurred in 2018, when Spreadtrum merged with Chinese semiconductor design company RDA Microelectronics, giving rise to the UNISOC brand.
Despite its relatively short history, UNISOC has proven capable of competing with established chipset manufacturers. While its portfolio is still smaller compared to competitors, it continues to grow and innovate.

1. UNISOC Tangula T820

Launched in Q4 2022, the Tangula T820 is UNISOC’s flagship chipset, which debuted in the nubia Neo 5G smartphone. This 5G-enabled chipset is built on TSMC’s advanced 6 nm EUV process.
The Tangula T820 features an octa-core CPU that consists of four Cortex A76 cores (one at 2.7 GHz and three at 2.3 GHz) for performance and four Cortex A55 cores (each at 2.1 GHz) for power efficiency. Its Mali-G57 MP4 GPU operates at a frequency of 780 MHz to deliver smooth graphics performance.
The SoC also includes an NPU capable of processing up to 8 TOPS, a quad-core ISP, and the Vivimagic 6.0 image engine, all of which enhance the camera performance.
With support for 4K video recording at 60 FPS, the Tangula T820 stands out in its class—4K video recording is still uncommon in mid-range chipsets, especially in affordable options.
This chipset can handle up to a 108 MP camera, supports Full HD+ resolution at 120 Hz for the display, and is compatible with LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 3.1 storage.

As a mid-range option, the T760 supports LPDDR4X RAM (2133 MHz) and can be paired with either eMMC or UFS storage. It also has impressive multimedia capabilities, which supports Full HD+ displays and up to 108 MP cameras. In terms of video recording, it supports 4K at 60 fps.
