How to Change the Lock Screen Clock on Tecno Phones

The default lock screen on a phone can sometimes feel too plain. If you prefer your device to reflect a bit more style or personality, customizing the clock display is a simple way to start. Tecno phones allow you to adjust this feature easily, giving your lock screen a fresh look with just a few taps.

Most smartphones, including Tecno devices, show the time on the lock screen. What some users don’t realize is that you can actually tweak how that clock looks. If you're curious to give yours a fresh new style, here’s how to do it.

Customizing the Lock Screen Clock

By default, your Tecno phone displays the time when the screen is locked. To make it more visually appealing, you can change the clock style to better suit your taste.

Open the Settings app on your Tecno device. Scroll down and tap Personalisation. Under the Customisation section, select Lock screen. Tap the blue Edit button to begin customizing.

Now, go ahead and tap on the clock displayed on the screen. This will bring up options to change the font and color. Feel free to experiment until you find a style you like. Just keep in mind, these customizations only apply to the digital clock, not the analog one.

Once you’re done, tap the check mark in the top-right corner to save your changes. Lock your phone and take a look, the new clock style should now be live on your lock screen.

Changing the Clock Display on Always On Display

Another way to change the clock appearance on your Tecno phone is by using the Always On Display (AoD) feature.

In short, AoD lets you view information like the time, date, battery level, and more, even when the screen is off or locked. To adjust the clock style using this feature, just follow these steps:

First, open the Settings app on your Tecno device. Next, go to the Personalisation menu. Here, tap on Always On Display or the nearby More option. To enable the feature, switch on the toggle next to Always On Display until it turns blue.

To change the clock design, scroll down and choose a style that fits your preference. Once you find one you like, tap Apply to set it as your AoD display.

That said, the Always On Display on Tecno phones isn’t fully optimized yet. Ideally, this feature should remain visible at all times while the screen is off. However, on most Tecno models, it only stays active for about 10 seconds.

Interestingly, the landscape version of the AoD display performs differently. Unlike the portrait version, the landscape mode can stay on for much longer, sometimes even continuously, as it’s meant to. Here’s how to enable it:

On the Always On Display page, tap Landscape Display. Turn it on by toggling the switch next to it. After that, you’ll have two options: a simple clock or a background photo.

If you choose the simple clock, you’ll still get a few styles to pick from. Customize it as you like, then tap Apply to save the changes.

Just note that this landscape AoD feature only works when your phone is charging and placed in landscape orientation. When the phone is stored normally, it will revert back to the previous AoD style.
