3 Easy Steps to Share Your Screen on Google Meet

Written by Linda

With the world getting more digital, especially in work and education, using video conference tools like Google Meet is now pretty standard. One of its useful features is screen sharing, which is great for presentations, meetings, or learning sessions together.

Here's a quick guide to screen sharing on Google Meet:

1. Access the 'Present Now' Feature

Start by opening the Google Meet app and joining a meeting. Once you're in, look at the bottom of your screen for the “Present now” button (it's usually right next to the mic and camera icons). Click this to start sharing your screen.

2. Choose What to Share

After you click “Present Now,” you'll see a few choices on what exactly you can share:

  • Tab

Choose this to share one of your browser tabs. It's great if you need to show a specific webpage or online content without revealing your whole desktop.

  • Window

This lets you share one of the application windows you have open. It's perfect if you're working in programs like PowerPoint or Excel and only want to show that.

  • Entire Screen

Picking this means everyone will see everything on your screen. Use this if you plan to switch between different applications or need to show various activities on your computer.

Pick the option that fits what you need for your presentation. Once you decide, you’ll need to confirm by clicking on the screen or application you want to share, then hit “Share.”

3. Ending the Share

Stopping the screen share in Google Meet is simple. While you are sharing, you'll see a notification at the top that says “You are presenting.” To end the share, just click “Stop sharing” in that notification.

The screen share will stop right away, and you'll go back to the normal view where others can't see your screen anymore.

Remember, Google Meet lets you include sound in your screen share, but you have to choose the option to share audio when you start sharing. If there’s no sound, it’s probably because you didn’t turn on the audio share option initially.

Screen sharing on Google Meet is straightforward and effective. By following these steps, you can share a tab, an application window, or your entire screen with ease.

This feature is incredibly useful for enhancing collaboration and communication during meetings, presentations, or learning sessions. Make sure to use it to boost your interactions on Google Meet.
