10 Best Apps to Clear Blurry Photos

Written by Sera Serinda A

Nothing feels more frustrating than posing your best and enjoying the moment only to realise the photo ends up blurry. The pose looks good and the timing feels right, yet the result still falls short. Almost everyone has gone through this.

Retaking the photo often feels tiring. The moment will never look the same, and the pose usually changes as well. To help you avoid this problem, here are the best apps that can sharpen and clear blurry photos.

1. Remini

Remini has got a wide range of AI-based image enhancement tools. It can reduce blur in low-quality photos and even improve images taken with older cameras. It also works on videos that lack focus and makes them appear sharper.

The app includes features that add color to black-and-white images or turn static photos into animations. For me, the free version already works well for sharpening blurry photos.

If you want more features, you can subscribe to the PRO version. One of the extra tools is facial enhancement.

Things I like about Remini:

  • Strong AI image enhancement.
  • Able to fix blurry photos and videos.
  • Tools to add colour or create animated photos.
  • The free version is enough for basic sharpening.

Things to note:

  • The PRO version offers a smoother experience with more features.
  • The free version shows many ads.
  • You need to watch ads before processing photos for free.

2. Pixlr

Pixlr_

Pixlr is not built specifically for sharpening photos, but it has a tool that works well for this purpose. The Autofix feature can sharpen, clarify, and increase contrast automatically. You don’t need to make manual adjustments. If the result still doesn’t meet your needs, you can fine-tune it through the Adjustment, Sharpen, or Auto Contrast tools.

The editor has a clean and simple layout, so every feature is easy to access. Pixlr also provides AI-powered tools, including object removal, photo expansion, sticker creation, and upscaling.

If you are a content creator, Pixlr includes a video editing feature that helps you edit both photos and videos in a practical way, although it still cannot match professional editors.

Things I like about Pixlr:

  • Autofix helps clear blurry photos quickly.
  • Extra visual controls for sharpening when needed.
  • Several AI-powered tools.
  • Includes a video editor.
  • Simple and clean interface.

Things to note:

  • The available tools are fewer compared to professional editors.
  • The adjustment options are also limited.

3. Photoshop Express

You can use Adobe Photoshop Express on your Android phone to clear blurry photos. The app doesn't provide a special tool for sharpening blurry images, but you can use the Sharpen option in the Adjustment menu. Increase the intensity until your photo looks sharper.

You can also try Texture, Clarity, Noise Reduction, and the colour settings in the same section if you want better results. Many professional photographers rely on these tools because they help reduce the broken image effect that often appears when using automatic enhancers.

The sharpening tools are free to access. You must create an account before using the app, and some features remain locked behind a subscription.

What I like about Photoshop Express:

  • Professional-quality editing tools available on mobile.
  • No special enhancer, but the adjustment tools are complete enough to clear blurry photos.
  • Options to edit the entire photo, the main subject, or only the background.

Things to note:

  • Requires an account to access the app.
  • Not all tools are free.

4. Picsart

If you have an old photo that looks blurry after moving it to a new phone, you can sharpen it with Picsart. It is one of the longest-running photo editing apps. The team continues to update its features and adds new tools to improve user experience.

One of the most noticeable improvements is the introduction of AI-powered tools. I have used Picsart for years, and I am very happy with this update.

Some AI features include AI Background, Text to Image, and AI Replace. For blurry photos, the most useful feature is AI Enhancer. Upload the blurry image and let Picsart improve it. The tool also provides a Before and After preview so you can compare the results.

You can adjust the strength of the enhancer, which Picsart labels as “Amount”. If you need sharper results, you can fine-tune the intensity and saturation manually.

Picsart also supports batch editing. You can improve up to 25 blurry photos in one process. This feature is still in Beta during my test, but I hope Picsart releases it officially because it will help many users, especially photographers and editors.

What I like about Picsart:

  • Frequent updates that add new tools.
  • A long-established editing app with many features.
  • Several tools use AI for faster and smoother results.
  • AI Enhancer includes a Before–After preview.
  • Manual controls still available to sharpen photos further.

Things to note:

  • The wide range of features may feel overwhelming for some.
  • Not all features are available in the free version.

5. Polish

AI Photo Editor – Polish_

Polish is an AI Photo Editor, so you will find several AI-enhanced tools inside the app. Its AI Enhancer can repair blurry photos into HD images and refresh the colors of faded pictures.

If you have an old printed photo that has torn edges, this feature can help. The captured image from the damaged photo will be restored until it looks smooth and unified again. After that, you can print the repaired version and enjoy a clean result.

The AI Enhancer is only available in the Polish Pro plan. If you want to sharpen blurry photos manually, you can use the free Adjustment tools.

What I like Polish:

  • The AI Enhancer clarifies blurry images, refreshes faded colours, and restores torn photos.
  • The app has got many other editing tools.
  • The output quality can reach HD to UHD.

Things to note:

  • The AI Enhancer is part of the Pro plan.
  • The app does not support batch editing.

6. Canva

Canva is one of the most popular graphic design apps today, so it naturally includes tools to sharpen blurry photos. When I first searched for them, I struggled to find the correct location. The enhancer tools sit in the Apps section. I even had to search the word “enhancer” to locate them.

Once I found the menu, I was surprised by how many enhancer options Canva has! You can use regular enhancers or AI-supported tools such as Image Sharpener, Photo Upscaler, and even video enhancers. Choose the one that fits your purpose.

I suggest trying Pixel Enhancer, AI Enhancer, or Sharpener. These features allow you to pick a photo from your design or upload a new image you want to improve.

Each enhancer has its own strengths. Some increase image quality, some upscale the image, and some refine the details. Choose what suits your needs.

What I like about Canva:

  • A graphic design app with complete photo editing tools.
  • Many enhancer options, each with different strengths.
  • Video enhancers are also available.
  • Advanced editing can be done directly inside Canva.

Things to note:

  • The enhancer tools are not easy to locate.
  • The interface becomes slightly complex when using the enhancer section.
  • Some enhancers are not fully accessible.
  • The app size is quite large because it carries many features.

7. YouCam Enhance

YouCam punya enhancer sendiri, lho, yang bentuknya berupa aplikasi terpisah. Ia bahkan menyediakan beberapa fitur AI Restoration, yang menawarkan fungsi perbaikan pada foto.

YouCam provides its own enhancer in a separate app. It includes several AI Restoration tools that improve photo quality. The main feature for sharpening blurry images is called Enhance. This feature provides several image correction presets.

These presets seem to combine sharpening with filters and other visual settings, so each result has a different level of detail and smoothness.

When I tried the app, I could only access the General (Basic) preset in the free version. The other presets require a Pro subscription. The Basic preset still delivers clear and natural-looking results.

You can also choose to enhance the overall image quality, but this option is only available for Pro users.

Aside from improving blurry photos, YouCam Enhance can restore faded colours, repair damaged images, remove scratches, and support batch editing.

Things I like about YouCam Enhance:

  • An enhance-focused app with many editing tools.
  • Provides video editing tools as well.
  • The enhancement tools feel complete.
  • Several presets are available for enhancement.
  • The Basic preset already works well for blurry photos.

One thing to note:

  • The free tools are limited.

8. FixMyPics

FixMyPics_

FixMyPics helps repair various flaws in photos. The app can sharpen images, recolour old black-and-white photos, restore torn pictures, improve lighting, remove objects, and enlarge photos without reducing quality.

You can find all these tools on the main page. To clear blurry images, use the Enhance feature. Select the photo you want to improve, then let FixMyPics process it.

Free users need to watch ads before the app starts processing. The enhancement time depends on the size of the photo.

Once done, the app shows a before–after comparison. You can save the result or continue editing. The app provides three output versions, but free users can only download version 1 (v1).

The interface looks unique, especially in the main feature layout. The editing tools can be used for free, although some remain locked for Pro members.

Things I like about FixMyPics:

  • Able to fix various photo problems.
  • The Enhancer tool offers three output versions.
  • Supports further editing after enhancement.
  • Unique interface and feature layout.

Hal yang perlu diperhatikan di FixMyPics:

  • The app shows many ads.
  • No batch editing support.
  • Some tools are locked behind the Pro plan.

9. PicMa

PicMa_
play-store-button

PicMa introduces itself as a photo enhancing app rather than a photo editor. You will find several enhancer tools inside the app.

There is an enhancer for clearer faces, an Enhancer Pro feature for higher-level improvements, a Shake Fix tool for motion-blurred photos, and a Batch Enhance option.

All these tools are free to use. You only need to watch ads before PicMa starts processing the image. The ads can appear for up to a minute, so patience is needed. You can skip the ads if you subscribe to PicMa.

What I like about PicMa:

  • Offers multiple enhancer tools.
  • Most features are free if you are willing to watch ads.
  • Can create moving images with AI.
  • Includes a video enhancer.
  • Supports batch enhancement.

Things to note:

  • The app displays many ads.
  • Free video editing is limited by credits.

10. Lensa

Lensa_
play-store-button

Lenses works as both a photo editor and an AI avatar creator. Its editing tools are supported by AI, which helps speed up the process.

Lenses does not provide a dedicated enhancer for blurry photos. You can still sharpen images with the Details tool on the editing page. Adjust the intensity until the photo looks clearer.

The app’s overall editing tools are not as complete as other photo editors. If you prefer a simple and compact app, Lenses is a suitable option.

What I like about Lensa:

  • Works as a photo editor and avatar creator.
  • AI-assisted features.
  • Users can sharpen blurry images manually.
  • Simple and user-friendly interface.
  • Minimal ads with many free tools.

Things to note:

  • No special enhancer tool.
  • Fewer editing tools compared to other apps.

That wraps up the list of the best apps to clear blurry photos on Android! I know that not every app can turn a blurry image into a perfect one, but many of them can still make the photo more presentable. If you have other tips or app suggestions, feel free to share them in the comments.
