How to Change Themes on Samsung Phones Without Extra Apps
Even though many smartphones come with advanced user interfaces (UIs), the default themes can sometimes feel dull and repetitive. This happens to me quite often, which is why I tend to change my phone’s theme several times a month.
Fortunately, modern smartphones offer a wide variety of themes, and Samsung is no exception. This popular South Korean brand includes a built-in app called Galaxy Themes, which makes theme customization simple and convenient.
Galaxy Themes is a tool provided by Samsung that allows users to easily switch themes on their smartphones. It offers a vast selection of themes across different styles, such as playful, modern, minimalist, seasonal, animated, and more.
In this guide, I’ll walk you through how to change the theme on a Samsung phone using Galaxy Themes. Follow the steps below for a detailed explanation.
1. Open Galaxy Themes
To begin, open the Galaxy Themes app by navigating to the "Settings" menu on your Samsung phone. You can access it either through the App Drawer or by using the Quick Settings feature. Once inside the settings, choose the "Themes" option.
Alternatively, you can also press and hold a blank space on your home screen for a few seconds until a menu of options appears. From there, select "Themes" to proceed.
2. Select a Theme
Next, choose the theme you want to apply to your Samsung phone. You can browse through the themes available under the "Featured" or "Top" tabs. Some themes are free to download, while others require a purchase.
In the "Featured" tab, you’ll find a curated selection of themes from Samsung, including the top themes of the week. These themes are categorized, making it easy to explore options like Halloween themes, video-based themes, and others.
On the other hand, the "Top" tab shows a list of themes sorted by popularity or the number of downloads. You can filter this list to display only free themes, paid themes, or a mix of both.
Once you’ve found a theme you like, simply tap the "Download" button. The downloaded theme will automatically appear in the "My Stuff" section.
For paid themes, tap the price button and follow the prompts to complete your payment. If you'd like to try a theme before purchasing, you can select the "Download Trial" option to test it out.
3. Install the Theme
Finally, it's time to install your selected theme. Head over to the "My Stuff" menu from the main Galaxy Themes page. Here, you’ll see all the themes you've downloaded or purchased.
Select the theme you want and tap the "Apply" button. The installation process takes just a few seconds. Once it’s complete, you’ll be taken to the home screen, where you can immediately enjoy the new look of your Samsung phone.
And there you have it—those are the steps to change the theme on your Samsung device. Whether you're looking for a fresh design or just want a change, this method makes it easy.
Additionally, Galaxy Themes isn't just for themes. You can also purchase other customization items like icons, fonts, and wallpapers. Installing these items follows a similar process to installing themes, offering even more ways to personalize your device.
